[Seriously, you’re still talking about limits at this point? Two–thirds of the first batch are already gone! Even those who knew how to survive died so fast.]
[Yeah, after the hunt event, at least two–thirds of the game’s population is gone. Sigh.]
[No way, my kid’s only three. If she gets dragged into this, it’s basically sending her to her death.]
[My kids are even younger. Twins, just three months old. What am I supposed to do?]
[My dad’s well into his seventies and has dementia. He wouldn’t survive a single day in this game.]
[This is truly despair. I fought so hard in this game, dreaming of going back to my family. Now, I just want to die.]
Leeanne stood motionless; she felt the same as others. She had been fighting to survive here, hoping to clear the game one day or it would shut down, so she could return to the real world and be with her grandparents and adorable nephew. But
now…
Her nephew was only five. If he ended up here with just a raft and a fishing rod, he would be doomed. Her grandparents were healthier than others at their age, but they were in their seventies. ‘How could they bear this? Out at sea, even a cold could take their lives,‘ she thought.
Moreover, when the first batch arrived, the environment worsened gradually, and they had some time to adapt. “What about the second batch? Will they be given time to adapt?
‘If something happens to grandpa and grandma, I have nobody left in this world… Leeanne thought, tears welled up in her eyes. Seeing this, the old goat kept quiet, not daring to utter a word.
The chat was full of chaos and despair. Some, thinking about their young kids and elderly folks, broke down. One player, completely in despair, jumped straight into the sea.
And just when everyone was about to snap, the game dropped another announcement.
[Game Announcement.]
[1. The raft rating system is now live. Please figure out how it works on your own.]
[2. If your raft rating is over 100, you can build one interdimensional portal. Over 500, you can build two. Over 1200, three. Over 2000, four. And if you hit 5000, you can build five.]
[3. Each player can only build five interdimensional portals at max.]
[4. Each interdimensional portal is a single–use item. You can use it to summon one family member onto your raft.]
[5. Interdimensional portals can only be used to bring direct blood family members onto your raft.]
[6. Islands are popping up more often in the sea recently. You have a better chance of coming across one. Their appearance
is unpredictable. You can spend the night there. Don’t miss the chance; collect resources and upgrade your raft.]
[Everyone, have fun playing!]
As soon as the announcement dropped, the players grew even more worked up.
[Wow, there’s so much in this update! Let me take a closer look.]

[I only noticed one thing. We can now stay overnight on the islands. So they finally make us work overtime, huh? Guess we can now hustle around the clock.]
[Yes! I can finally bring my kid onto my raft. I’m so happy, we’re finally together again.]
[Man, I’m so relieved! This damn game finally threw us a lifeline.]
[I’ve got six kids. I’ll bring three, and my wife can bring the other three. That’s perfect!]
[Why do you only bring your kids? What about your parents and grandparents? Are you just going to leave them behind?]
[Of course I’m bringing my kids first! Kids can’t make it without adults, but the old folks know their way around and can hang on a bit longer.]
[Man, that’s harsh. You really abandon your parents like this?]
Just as the chat was about to turn into a full–blown argument, someone checked their raft rating and was shocked.
[Hold on, guys! Let’s check our ratings first. Mine’s only 11!]
[Mine’s 12!]
[Mine’s even worse, just 5!]
[Wait, I thought my raft was doing pretty well. Everyone, take a look. What’s your rating?]
Everyone checked their raft ratings and started calling out their numbers in the Local Chat. It turned out the highest score was just 22, and that was Robin. Emmett chimed in with his raft rating, but it was barely 24.
These few people were the elites of District 33, some of the wealthiest players. With that, the discussion about who to summon first died out completely. There was no need to, as no one was qualified. Not just unqualified; they were way too far
behind.
Rodger and the others were also chatting in the Assault Squad channel.
Rodger: [My raft rating’s 23.]
Danelle: [Oh man, I’m even worse, just 22. Leeanne, what about you?]
William: [23.]
Leeanne poked around for a second. She just had to open her profile, and there it was.
Leeanne: [56.]
Danelle gasped. [Oh my god! You’ve got double our score! Actually, you’ve got more than double the highest score in District 33!]
Rodger: [Not really a surprise. Leeanne really knows how to build a raft.)
Leeanne was dumbfounded. After all that time fussing over her raft, her score was only 56. It’s hopelessly far from what I need!‘ she thought.
After everyone compared their scores, the chat exploded with complaints again.
[This damn game is really screwing us over. I knew it; nothing here is ever easy!]

[What a devious game! They don’t even tell us how the ratings work. How are we supposed to know what to upgrade?]
[It’s like they give us both hope and despair! I’ve busted my ass for more than ten days, and my raft rating is only 17. But if I want to bring my kid over, I have to get my raft rating to 100 in just seven days. No way, right?]
[Alright, now we can crash on the islands overnight. Looks like the game wants us to pull all–nighters and hustle nonstop. Let’s give it everything we’ve got!]
[For the kids, for the old folks; let’s hustle and do whatever it takes.]
Leeanne closed the chat window. She needed to bring her grandparents and nephew, three family members. That meant she had to upgrade her raft to a score of 1200 in the next seven days.
It was incredibly hard, but she had no choice. She could only push herself to the limit, as she couldn’t miss out on a single one of her three loved ones.
When she lowered her head, she saw that the old goat was watching her: “Wanna go treasure hunting?” the old goat asked.
Leeanne replied, “Yeah, let’s go!”
The old goat’s face lit up when it said, “Alright, let’s roll!”
There were still a few hours left before they had to leave the island, so Leeanne wanted to check out the treasure just in case it could help her upgrade her raft.
Of course, she was only going to take a look. If things got too dangerous, she would leave the idea behind without hesitation. Now, she felt an even heavier responsibility, as she had to make sure her grandparents could make it here safely.
Snowy called over a speedy antelope for Leeanne. She climbed onto its back and followed the old goat, racing across the island until they reached the base of a mountain.
They trekked halfway up, and the old goat stopped beneath a towering pine tree. After it cleared the tangled weeds nearby, an entrance was revealed. It was a stone cave.
The old goat quickly signaled Leeanne over. Just as Leeanne reached the cave entrance and was about to get her torch ready, a system notification chimed in.
[You’ve discovered Bob’s treasure. Would you like to enter?]
