“But if that’s true, why would he still bet with Leeanne, and put up such a huge stake?” a player wondered aloud.

“Maybe he thought Leeanne couldn’t prove it. After all, Teleport Cards are rare. Who knew she had more than one?” another speculated.

Max stayed silent for a long time.

He stared at Leeanne’s Teleport Card, and something felt off to him now too. The Teleport Card he’d held before was nothing like this one.

‘Could I really have been wrong all along?‘ Max wondered, doubt gnawing at him.

Max racked his brain, turning it over and over in his mind.

Back then, he and Robin had been hiding out in a cave. Robin, always the stand–up guy, insisted on shielding him, so all Max could see was Robin’s back and the cramped stone walls. There was no way to see what was happening outside

After Robin finished the deal with Leeanne, he handed the Teleport Card straight to Max. Robin immediately drew his weapon, ready to take on the wild wolves that had already found them.

Max didn’t even have time to check the card’s information. He used it straight away. There was a flash of white light, he felt a rush, and when he opened his eyes, he was still stuck in that cramped cave, staring at Robin’s back.

He got pissed right away, accusing Leeanne of scamming them.
