Now that Apprentice 23 seemed back to normal and wasn’t about to tear the place apart, Leeanne quietly stashed Apprentice 23’s chainsaw somewhere out of sight.

Apprentice 23 noticed, but she was too busy playing with Fluffy to care.

‘She’s not that hard to handle after all, Leeanne thought to herself.

Leeanne finally relaxed and started thinking over what she’d read about Apprentice 23 in her profile.

‘Apprentice 23’s just a common kid, so maybe I should treat her like one? Or maybe all it takes is a cute pet like Fluffy to keep her happy?‘ Leeanne wondered. ‘Well, who knows, but at least things are safe for now!

Leeanne sat at the bow, watching Apprentice 23 and Fluffy having fun together.

Fluffy was actually kind of lonely. Leeanne spent most of her time exploring the islands, and even when she was back, she was always caught up in other stuff, so she hardly ever played with Fluffy.

To make matters worse, Little Blue and Snowy were always squabbling and sparring, and neither of them ever played with Fluffy.

So it was pretty rare for Fluffy to have a kid hanging out with it for this long.

Fluffy was over the moon, having a blast playing with Apprentice 23.

Finally, Fluffy led Apprentice 23 over to their swing chair, and the two of them sat side by side, swinging together.

Apprentice 23 was absolutely delighted, giggling nonstop. For once, she actually looked like a kid.

Leeanne sat on the swing across from them, keeping an eye on things while scrolling through her holoscreen and checking the chat.

Leeanne opened her private messages and saw nearly all her friends had reached out, asking if she was okay and suggesting she move her stuff somewhere safer.

What was really surprising was that even the usually quiet William actually spoke up for once.

Leeanne replied to each one, telling them not to worry. She was safe for now.

She was scrolling through her holoscreen when Apprentice 23 suddenly looked over. “My adorable adventurer, I’m hungry. Can I have breakfast here?”

Leeanne was speechless.

Just like the last one. Here comes another moocher,‘ she thought.

There was no way she could refuse. It was just breakfast, and just a kid. She’d simply cook a little extra for breakfast.

She had to eat anyway.

Leeanne teased her, “Oh yeah? My food doesn’t come for free, you know.”

Apprentice 23 rolled her eyes. “If you don’t feed me, I’ll tear your ship apart!”

‘Oh boy, this little troublemaker is already threatening me, Leeanne thought. ‘She’s even more cocky than her master!‘

Leeanne snorted. “If you mess with my ship, I’ll beat you up!”

Apprentice 23’s eyes went wide in surprise. “You… you…” She glanced down at the adorable Fluffy, her tough act fading away. She pouted, looking all pitiful. “If you dare hit me, I’ll tell my master!”

Leeanne was puzzled. ‘Why did Apprentice 23 suddenly turn so well–behaved? Is Fluffy really that charming?‘ she wondered.

When Apprentice 23 was being good, she was actually pretty cute. Leeanne stood up, walked over, and gave Apprentice 23’s braids a playful tug. “Be good, and I’ll go make breakfast!”

Before heading off to cook, she shot Snowy a look, and Snowy immediately plopped down not far from Apprentice 23, keeping a close eye on her.

Leeanne went to make breakfast.

She whipped up a pot of oatmeal, reheated yesterday’s sandwiches, and fried up a few pieces of fried dough.

She worked fast, and in just over half an hour, everything was ready.

Leeanne set the sandwiches, bread, and oatmeal on the table, tossed together a quick stir–fried greens, and called Apprentice 23 over to eat.

Apprentice 23 slid into her seat at the table, sitting up straight. She actually looked like a model kid for once.

The two of them dug in.

Leeanne cleaned up the table, washed the dishes, then went to find Apprentice 23. “Hey, besides breaking stuff, is there anything else you can do?

Apprentice 24 flashed a mischievous grin. ‘Leeanne, all I know is how to wreck things. Wanna learn?”

Leeanne asked, “Didn’t your master teach you anything else? Like making a place cozy in winter and cool in summer?”

Apprentice 23 hugged Fluffy and giggled. Leeanne, my master only taught me how to break things. He says I’ve got a real talent for it. I’m the number one demolition expert in the world! How about I teach you?”

Leeanne shot back, “Not a chance

What would I even do with demolition skills? Leeanne thought to herself.

Leeanne sighed and thought. Looks like Apprentice 23 really doesn’t know anything else. So much for learning a new skill. She’s just an eating machine, and there’s no way I can keep feeding her

Leeanne propped her chin on her hand, watching Apprentice 23 play with Fluffy. After a long while, the two were still at it. Leeanne glanced up at the sun and asked, “Aren’t you going to go tear something down?”

She really didn’t want to deal with lunch. Apprentice 23 could eat her out of house and home.
