When Maeve saw Leeanne, her face broke into a huge sinile. She slung the sack onto the deck, let the rake fall, and gave the sports bag on her chest a happy pat. “Leeanne, I brought your laptop for you!”
“Grandma!” Leeanne was so thrilled. She dashed over and threw her arms around Maeve.
Leeanne had been buried in work, and it had been three months since they last saw each other.
Maeve gave Leeanne a proud pat on the back. “Look, Grandma brought you loads of gifts!”
Leeanne looked down, surprised. “Wait, we’re actually allowed to bring stuff?”
Maeve made a face. “They wouldn’t let me bring this, wouldn’t let me bring that. I packed three big sacks, but after all the restrictions, this is all I could manage!”
Leeanne didn’t even have time to ask about the gifts. She asked urgently, “What about Grandpa and Archie?”
Maeve grinned. “They went to see your brother.”
So it really is my brother!‘ Leeanne thought, her heart skipping a beat.
Leeanne’s face lit up. “Ronnie is still alive?”
Maeve nodded. “Yeah, when we did the summoning, his names popped up. We were certain it was your brother. Your grandpa and I figured Archie would go find his dad, so your grandpa tagged along because he was worried. I came here to look after you.”
Leeanne was deeply moved. To Maeve, no matter how old or strong a child was, they still needed care. She just had to come and see for herself to feel at ease.
‘But… wasn’t Ronnie lost in that plane crash?‘ Leeanne thought.
But then, thinking back, everyone knew about the crash, but no one saw him alive or dead. They just assumed he was gone. Maybe he managed to swim to a deserted island and survived by some miracle.
The crash happened a month ago. What if he was lucky and didn’t die, but ended up stranded somewhere, still alive?
Of course, Leeanne was just guessing. After all, this kind of thing happened all the time in movies and TV shows.
Maeve didn’t really know what was going on either, but as long as Leeanne’s brother was alive, she was happy.
Maeve looked Leeanne up and down and nodded. “Leeanne, you look way better now. Back when you were working overtime, you looked so much more exhausted than you do now.”
Leeanne and Maeve caught up for ages.
Maeve said, “About an hour ago, we suddenly got a notice. A screen popped up right in front of us, briefly explaining what was going on here, and we got to choose where to go. Honestly, it was chaos. Most people had no clue what to do.”
Leeanne asked, “What did it say?”
Maeve replied, “It said that if you pick Survival on the Seas, there are endless possibilities. You might even feel younger again. But the other place? It’s just dull. Not much entertainment, just enough food and drink to get by. If you want to indulge yourself, that’s not happening.”

A lot of folks didn’t know what to choose. One hour was way too rushed, so everyone just made snap decisions.

“Your grandpa and I agreed. We have to stick with you guys. You work too hard, and honestly, you’re not as strong as your grandpa and me. Maybe we can lend a hand here.”
Maeve glanced up at the second floor and said, “Looks like you’re doing a great job taking care of yourself, Leeanne.”
Leeanne replied, “Don’t worry, Grandma. Ronnie’s probably doing just as well as me.”
‘Being able to summon two people means he must be doing pretty well himself, Leeanne thought.
That made her feel a lot better.
Her brother was still alive, and it was an unexpected joy.
Leeanne couldn’t help but worry about her sister–in–law. Maeve had mentioned she hadn’t summoned Archie, so even if she was still alive, things must be pretty rough for her.
Leeanne had no clue which zone her brother ended up in.
Leeanne let out a sigh. With so many people, one hundred thousand in each zone, and no one knew how many zones there actually were, finding her brother was like searching for a needle in a haystack.
If the zones weren’t connected and everything stayed locked down, it’d be nearly impossible to reach anyone outside.
If only they could combine all the zones into one huge area, then there’d be more people and a better shot at bumping into family. Right now, no one knew how many folks were out there worrying about their loved ones.
Just then, Maeve pushed the sports bag toward her. “Here, I brought you your laptop. You used to be glued to it every day, so I figured you’d be lost without it.”
Leeanne fell silent.
It was her old laptop, the one she’d used a year ago. It hadn’t been turned on in ages, so it was probably dead by now.
Bringing a laptop here was pretty pointless. There was no internet, so she couldn’t really do anything with it.
And without power, the battery would die in no time.
Still, it was Maeve’s way of showing she cared. She must have thought this was what mattered most to Leeanne.
Leeanne opened the sports bag, took out the laptop, set it on the table, and tried to turn it on.
The screen stayed black.
That was when she noticed the keyboard keys were falling off with just a touch. They were all broken.
Maeve hurried over, looking puzzled. “I was so careful, always holding it close. How did it end up like this?”
Maeve felt a pang of guilt.
Leeanne fiddled with the keyboard. “Don’t worry, Grandma. It wasn’t because you dropped it, probably just got damaged going through the portal.”
She closed the laptop, and the keys clattered onto the table. Helpless, she just stuffed the laptop and all the loose keys back into the sports bag.

Chapter 188
Maeve opened the sack, and it was packed with all sorts of things.

Some were Leeanne’s old clothes and dresses, while the rest were Maeve’s. She only brought two outfits, and most of the stuff was for Leeanne.
At the bottom of the sack, there was also a big bag of seeds.
Leeanne’s eyes lit up. Seeds were something she desperately needed right now. She just hoped the portal hadn’t damaged
them.
Maeve said regretfully, “Time was too short, so I just grabbed whatever food we had at home, mostly beans.”
Sure enough, there were red beans, mung beans, black beans, soybeans, runner beans, plus all sorts of seeds for veggies like chives, spinach, bok choy, lettuce, yardlong beans, tomatoes, and more. All seeds Maeve used to grow at home.
Maeve glanced around and spotted a few small patches of soil on the deck.
She wrinkled her nose. “With such a tiny patch, what can you even plant?”
Leeanne just smiled. Her mystical cherry grove had tons of space, not a single seed would go to waste.
But she kept that to herself.
Leeanne led Maeve upstairs, showed her around, and suggested she take a break.
Maeve was never one to sit still. When older folks visited their kids, of course, the first thing they did was start cleaning up and straightening things out.
Maeve was no exception. She rolled up her sleeves and started wandering around, looking for something to do.
Leeanne’s raft was spotless. Maeve had to search for ages before she finally found a tiny bit of trash to sweep up.
Then she went to feed the rabbits and chickens.
Meanwhile, Leeanne whipped up a quick breakfast. After they finished eating, she stopped her grandmother from washing the dishes herself and just tossed everything into the dishwasher.
Then the two of them sat down at the table and caught up, filling each other in on everything that had happened lately.
After that, Leeanne pulled out three cherries and told Maeve to eat them as soon as possible.
She wanted Maeve to boost her health quickly. Leeanne herself was way stronger than before.
Maeve was absolutely smitten with Fluffy. She went off to play with the little panda, while Leeanne flopped back onto the beanbag chair, wanting to see what the other players were up to.
The chat channel was buzzing.
[I’m so happy! I finally reunited with my grandma. We’ve always depended on each other, and now she’s here with me.]
[My daughter just arrived. I’m torn. Should I let her leave? She can still change her mind within the next 24 hours.]
[My dad was worried about me, so he chose to come here. But honestly, I’m afraid I won’t be able to take care of him. He might end up having to look after me instead. I want him to go to the leisure game zone, but he won’t agree.]
[We’ve still got 24 hours. Everyone, take your time to think it over.]

[Do you think something’s about to happen to Earth now that everyone’s been summoned here?]

Leeanne would never let Maeve leave. She could make sure Maeve was well taken care of here, and besides, with Maeve’s personality, she’d never leave anyway.
Leeanne wanted nothing more than to stay close to her grandmother and brother.
Time always seemed to fly when Leeanne was with Maeve. Before she knew it, it was already noon. They cooked a hearty meal together, ate their fill, and then Maeve went right back to keeping herself busy.
Leeanne suddenly realized she still hadn’t checked out the mystical cherry grove.
She headed back to her bedroom and stepped into the mystical cherry grove.
[Today’s luck boost in the mystical cherry grove: Fortune’s Favor. You can repair damaged or incomplete items at the crafting table. Uses left: 3.]
‘Huh? Only three uses?‘ Leeanne blinked in confusion.
‘But last time, I definitely had seven!‘
