Chapter 189
This time, Lecanne only had three shots left at Fortune’s Favor.

Last time, Leeanne had scored a bunch of treasures with her Fortune’s Favor, and now she was determined to make every spin count.
The chat channel was still chaotic, so Leeanne asked about the other members of the Assault Squad.
Now that Emmett and Gideon had joined the Assault Squad, their team was up to six people.
William was grinning from ear to ear. [My son’s here now, and I want him to stay. He doesn’t want to leave either, so we’re gonna stick together for good!]
The reason William felt so secure was all thanks to Leeanne.
With Leeanne leading the way, life just kept getting better.
His son’s name was Ryan, and William even turned on the video so everyone could see him. Ryan was a sweet kid with thick eyebrows and big eyes, and when he smiled, he had that goofy, endearing look that made people want to pinch his cheeks.
Everyone instantly adored him.
Rodger and Danelle didn’t have anything weighing on their minds, just like before. Word was, Alina had her father join them. He was 51, in great shape, and could definitely hold his own in a fight.
Alina’s mother was 49, but nobody had a clue which district she’d ended in.

As for Spike and Ellery, they were the type who had zero stress about anything. No younger siblings to worry about, and their parents were definitely in the first batch, so life was easy for them.
Gideon and Emmett are still just like before.
Leeanne suddenly remembered Fortune’s Favor and started planning to fix up some broken stuff she could find.
She asked directly in the Assault Squad group chat, [Gideon, have you drawn anything interesting lately?]
Danelle: [Isn’t Gideon always too chicken to open chests? Last time he pulled out a rusty iron rod, had no clue what it was, and posted it in the chat asking for help. But everyone just ignored him.]
Emmett: [Can you stop glorifying it already? It’s not that nobody knew what it was. Everyone told him to toss it out. Nobody wanted it, not even for free, haha!]
Gideon: [Someone does!]
Emmett: [Who?]
Leeanne: [I do!]
Emmett: [Leeanne, don’t comfort him! He’s already running wild!]
Emmett was grinding his teeth in annoyance. [Two locked chests, and he went and opened them on the sly. One had nothing but a shredded piece of paper, the other just a bone. Seriously, the guy’s got some nerve!]
Danelle: [So which chest did he get that junk rod from?]

Emmett said with a mocking tone, [The rod came out of a common chest, and the bone and paper were from locked chests. Real genius, huh? If he ever managed to pull out a whole plank, I’d actually give him some credit!]
Leeanne spoke up, [I’ll take all of it. Gideon, do you still have that stuff?]
Gideon: [Yeah, I’ll send it over.]
Rodger asked with a puzzled look, [Leeanne, what do you want with all this junk?]
Leeanne gave a slight smile. [Archaeology!]
Rodger fell silent.
Emmett: [Leeanne must be working on some grand research project!]
Leeanne opened her private chat and pulled out the rusty iron rod, the dirty bone, and the torn piece of paper Gideon had sent her, setting them all out on the table.
She was deep in her research when Maeve came striding over, full of energy.
Maeve took one look at the messy table and frowned. “Leeanne, go sit over there. I’ll tidy this up for you. Seriously, why do you have so much trash here?”
Leeanne quickly stopped her. “Grandma, don’t touch any of it! These are all treasures!”
Maeve shot her a weird look, shook her head, and headed off to check the crops in the field.
As soon as Maeve left, Fluffy scurried over, clinging to the edge of the table, curiously poking at this and that, swatting at everything in sight.
Fluffy had really leveled up. It was not tall enough to see over the tabletop, but now it could shimmy right up the table legs without breaking a sweat.
It could even dangle from the edge, hanging there like a little acrobat.
This little guy was seriously nimble.
Leeanne quickly pulled Fluffy off the table, but the little guy kicked its four short legs all over the place, making a mess of everything on the table.
Leeanne, feeling exasperated, hurried to set Fluffy down in the swing chair, finally getting a break from the chaos.
When Leeanne came back and glanced at the table, she realized there were now four pieces of broken things instead of three. Fluffy had dragged a beat–up plastic ball from the edge and tossed it in with the rest.
‘Wait, this thing was from the little seal. Maybe it’s a treasure too?‘ Leeanne wondered.
Leeanne poked and prodded each item, but honestly, none of them seemed special at all. They were way too ordinary.
Still, she had to try her luck. Using Fortune’s Favor was a total gamble. Nobody could predict what they might fix in the end.
Leeanne looked over the four pieces of broken things, then grabbed the largest, rusted iron rod.
“This one’s the biggest and probably the sturdiest. Guess I’ll try this one first,‘ she thought.
The rod was more than a meter long, rusted all over. One touch and Leeanne’s palm was instantly stained a reddish–brown.

Leeanne took the rod and headed over to the crafting table.

[Rusty, Broken Iron Rod: Just a busted, rust–covered rod. No clue what it’s supposed to be for. You can use Fortune’s Favor to try luck–powered repair. Want to give it a shot?]
“Yes!” Leeanne replied.
[Repair successful! You’ve obtained an Advanced Refined Iron Harpoon. In water, its attack power doubles, making it perfect for taking on sea creatures. Effects: 1. Precision; 2. Causes continuous bleeding!]
It really turned out to be a weapon. Not just any weapon, but one made for fighting sea monsters.
Furthermore, it came with two special abilities.
‘Looks pretty good, but…‘ Leeanne thought, a bit puzzled.
She stared at it for a moment. What she had now was still just an iron rod. Only this time, it was gleaming and totally rust- free. It barely looked any different from before.
At the end of the rod was a grip with some kind of anti–slip design. It fit perfectly in her hand. Just ahead of that, there was a little bump, a refined iron button.
Leeanne wasn’t paying much attention at first. She absentmindedly swung the rod around a few times.
At some point, the seal pup waddled over from the far end of the raft, hauling itself up to the edge and peering over with its chubby, round head, watching Leeanne.
Leeanne was completely absorbed in studying the iron rod and didn’t notice the little seal at all.
She gripped the end of the rod, messing around with it until her thumb found that round bump. She pressed it lightly.
With a sudden pop, a black wire shot out from the rod, shooting right at the little seal.
“Eek!” the little seal let out a startled yelp.
It didn’t even have time to dodge. Something shiny zipped right past its chubby head.
The little seal let out a distressed wail.
What was that just now?‘ Leeanne wondered, still a bit stunned by the sudden action.
She glanced down and saw a black cable, about as thick as her thumb, shooting out from the rod. She ran her fingers over it, and it felt like refined iron, but surprisingly soft and flexible, almost like a rope one could bend.
The cable stretched out nearly five meters, just enough to reach the little seal’s head.
Still curious, Leeanne pressed the button again. With a sharp pop, the line retracted, vanishing from view.
She hit the button once more, and with another pop, the line shot right back out.
The little seal was plastered to the edge of the raft, letting out frantic yelps. Whether it was still terrified or just thought the danger had passed, it kept its front paws locked onto the raft, not budging an inch.
The line whizzed right over its head again.
The little seal scrunched its eyes shut and let out a sharp, high–pitched howl.

Leeanne started reeling the line back in, winding it up as she went. It stretched out a whole five meters before she finally got to the end.
At the tip was a five–pronged harpoon head, each prong fitted with barbs.
Ah, so that’s where the harpoon was hiding!‘ Leeanne realized.
The power and speed of this thing were seriously next–level.
She pressed the button again, reeling the line back in, and couldn’t help but fiddle with it for ages, totally hooked.
The little seal was still wailing with its eyes squeezed shut when the Sea Demon Vine suddenly lashed out, snatched it up, wrapped it up like a package, and flung it right at Leeanne’s feet.
The little seal was so scared out of its wits that it didn’t even struggle. It just let itself be caught, totally docile.
With tears streaming down its face, the little seal looked up at Leeanne and whimpered, “Eek, don’t kill me! Don’t kill me!”
Leeanne hefted the refined iron harpoon in her palm, tapping it with a wicked grin. “You know, I’ve heard seal meat is packed with nutrients, super tasty, and especially good for you. The little ones are the best. No need to fry or boil. Just peel off the skin, slice open the belly, give it a good wash, lay it out nice and flat on a steamer rack, and steam it for an hour…”
