The Double Drop Buff Surviving The Endless Ocean novel Chapter 204

Chapter 204

After opening the chest, a rare smile appeared on Gideon’s usually stoic face.

Emmett perked up. What? What did you get?

Gideon pulled out twenty pieces of wood. They were clean, flawless, not even a splinter out of place.

Emmett was stunned into silence.

So was Leeanne.

Gideon said, Hey, this’s pretty good.

Emmett gritted his teeth. Yeah, right.”

Gideon frowned. Haven’t you gotten twenty pieces of wood before?

Emmett said, But this was Leeanne’s treasure chest.

Leeanne was disappointed, too. This wasn’t what she wanted at all.

Leeanne and Emmett were a bit bummed about getting twenty pieces of wood, except for Gideon, whose usual icy demeanor actually cracked into a smile.

Leeanne bounced back quickly, waving her hand. No worries. Let’s keep going.”

They kept moving forward, but there was nothing else to find, not even a single Tier 3 golden pheasant. Leeanne noticed signs that someone else had passed through.

Leeanne thought, That must’ve been Callum and his group.

She said, Let’s go a different way.

After a bit of walking, they came across a towering mountain up ahead.

It was a really tall peak, no trail in sight, just rocks to grab onto if they wanted to climb.

Emmett was itching to go. Wanna climb it?

Leeanne nodded. Sure.

The last time she climbed a peak, she scored the Dragon Wall Hot Spring. Maybe there was another surprise waiting up there.

Gideon didn’t object, so the three of them started scrambling up the rocks..

It took them about half an hour before they finally reached the summit.

The summit was tiny, just enough space for the three of them to stand. Right in the middle stood a craggy stone pillar, about as tall as two people stacked together, super thin. Its base was barely three feet wide.

There was no way anyone could climb that thing.

Leeanne was ready to head out, but Emmett leaned against the pillar, flashed a peace sign, and said excitedly, Come on.

take a pic of me. I’ve never climbed this high before.

Leeanne said. You call this high?

Emmett said, With how fat I am, do you think I’ve ever climbed a mountain before? Honestly, my Constitution’s way better now. After half an hour of climbing, I needed a quick breather.

Come on, quit spacing out. Take my pic. We’ll do a group shot in a sec.

Leeanne was speechless.

Gideon scoffed, ignored Emmett, and turned to head back down the mountain.

Leeanne reluctantly snapped a photo of Emmett.

Emmett glanced at the photo. He wasn’t happy with it and went back to strike another pose.

He pressed himself hard against the pillar, arms wide open, eyes gazing up at the sky. Come on, this pose is way cooler.Leeanne opened the camera again, snapping screenshots as she muttered, You’re such a hassle. This is the last time.” Emmett pressed himself back against the pillar even more. Come on. Come on.

Suddenly, with a loud crash, the stone pillar behind Emmett snapped almost at the base and fell off the cliff.

Emmett, who was leaning against it, lost his balance and toppled backward, not even realizing what happened.

Leeanne was busy snapping photos and tried to grab him, but she was a second too late. With a heavy thud, Emmett vanished. No telling where he ended up.

Leeanne quickly closed the camera and rushed over.

But Emmett was nowhere to be seen. All that remained was a pitchblack hole right at her feet.

It turned out that the base of the pillar was hollow. There was a hidden hole right underneath.

Emmett’s voice echoed up from the darkness below. Ah! That hurts. Hey, what is that? Stop biting me. Ahhh! It hurts. Gideon, Leeanne, help!

Hearing Emmett’s cries, Gideon rushed over, too.

Leeanne tossed a few torches down the hole, then took out a luminous pearl to light things up.

It turned out the drop wasn’t that deep. Emmett was yelling, Who tossed that? It hit me.

Gideon jumped straight in without a second thought.

Leeanne took a quick look at how deep it was, paused for a moment, then pulled out a rope. She tied one end to a nearby rock, held onto the other, and followed them down.

If she didn’t do that, she’d have no way to get back up later.

Emmett was sprawled on the ground, clutching two torches, while Gideon was darting around, locked in a fight with something.

Lecanne jumped down and took a quick look around.

It was a stone passage, about seven to ten feet wide and about six feet high. Gideon was in the middle of a fight with a inge spider, and he was holding his own for now.

The soft whip wasn’t the best weapon for this cramped space, so Leeanne switched to her WhiptoSpear skill and teamned up with Gideon to take down the spider.

Once the spider was dead, they finally turned to check on Emmett.

By then, Emmett was back on his feet, but there were two small, blackened bite marks on his leg.

Leeanne frowned. Was that spider venomous?

Emmett grumbled as he pulled out a small vial of potion and downed it. Yeah, it was. Good thing I packed enough emergency supplies.”

Leeanne looked surprised. Antidote potion?

Emmett said, Yeah.”

He grinned, clearly proud. I scored three of these from a treasure chest. Hey, Leeanne, want me to give you one?

Leeanne shook her head. No, thanks.”

She still had some Antidote Powder on her.

Leeanne thought, Emmett’s on a Lucky Streak. He is actually scoring antidote potions from a chest.

But yeah, with his skills, if he wasn’t riding a Lucky Streak, he’d have been toast ages ago.

After downing the antidote potions, Emmett was back to his usual energetic self. Let’s go. Let’s see if there’s any treasure in this cave.

Leeanne left a torch at the entrance, held up her luminous pearl. Emmett and Gideon each grabbed a torch. With all that light, the cave was much brighter now.

They walked a few steps deeper into the cave when a swarm of venomous spiders suddenly rushed at them.

The passage was too narrow for all three of them to fight side by side, so Emmett quickly backed off, holding two torches. Gideon tossed his torch aside, drew his long blade, and charged straight in.

Leeanne stashed her luminous pearl, grabbed her soft whip, and started smacking spiders left and right.

Gideon was a beast in combat, so Leeanne just had to back him up. Together, they wiped out the spiders in no time.

[Broke down the venomous spider. Got 1 Poison Sac.]

Leeanne was baffled. Seriously? All I get from a spider is a Poison Sac? Nothing else?
