The Double Drop Buff Surviving The Endless Ocean novel Chapter 22

All of them were angry and depressed, with no one to talk to, so they could only rant in the chat.

It was no surprise. Everyone here was between 18 and 50. They all had parents or kids. They were suddenly torn from their families, forced to face loss overnight.

After reading so many messages, Leeanne felt her nose sting and her eyes burn with unshed tears.

She had never imagined the game’s elimination rate was this high. So many people were getting kicked out.

And once one died here, it was for real. Who would take care of their parents? What about their kids? Leeanne cursed inwardly, This damn game.’

Pretty soon, people started pulling themselves together and taking action. [Hey, don’t get too discouraged, everyone. If we give up now, we’re really screwed.

[The notice dropped some hints. If you want to survive, first, you can expand your rafts and build wooden gazebos. Second, you can look for torches, firewood, and things like that.]

More folks started chiming in with their own questions. [Easy for you to say. My raft’s already 100 square feet, which is pretty fast compared to most.

[It took me 60 wood and 60 nails just to get it this size. If I want to build a wooden gazebo, that’s another 50 wood and 20

nails.

[All I’m doing is fishing chests out of the ocean. Where the heck am I supposed to get that much wood and nails?]

Another texted: [Man, I thought I was lucky. Had enough wood and nails, but I traded them all for food and water. Now I totally regret it. Why did I have to be such a glutton?]

Someone else chimed in: [You guys are so lucky. I’ve been holding onto all my stuff, never swapped any of it for food or water, and it’s still not enough.]

Someone echoed: [If only we had a brazier. At least we could keep warm and maybe make it through the night.]

Someone replied: [Seriously? How are we supposed to stay warm? Does anyone even have anything to start a fire with? This darnn game is just out to kill us.]

Another guy answered: [Well, we could try starting a fire with sticks.]

Someone else replied: [Yeah? Let’s see you actually do it.]

The chat was full of arguments now. People were getting frustrated. Despair and anger were a recipe for tempers flating

An idea flashed through Leeanne’s mind. Earlier, she had unlocked several new crafting options, and she was pretty sure one of them was a brazier.

Her plan came together in a flash. She had to try it out. She opened her workbench menu. [Brazier An iron basin packed

with wood.

[Once you light it up, it keeps the fire alive, keeps you warm, and lets you cook food. A musthave for survival. Required, materials: 1 iron, 2 wood. Craft it now?]

Leeanne didn’t hesitate. Yes.There was a clatter of metal and wood, and in less than half a minute, a brazier appeared at her feet.

True to its name, the brazier was round, slightly larger than a typical basin, with four legs supporting it and a metal grate on top. The basin was halffull of firewood.

After thinking it over, Leeanne lifted the metal grate, grabbed a piece of firewood from the brazier, lit it in the brazier, and then placed it back inside.

The rest of the wood quickly caught fire, and the flames danced wildly, sending warmth all around her. It worked great for heating.

A notification popped up: [Lit Brazier: Keeps you warm, lets you cook food. Lasts for 6 hours. If you want it to keep burning. just throw in more wood.]

Six hours? That’s more than enough, she thought. She put the metal grate back on and realized she could grill food right on top, like chicken wings.

The thought made her realize how hungry she was. She had been so busy selling watermelon and expanding the raft that she had only eaten two pieces of bread roll.

Leeanne hadn’t even checked her fishing nets or cooked any oatmeal today. And she still had ten whole chickens. Forget it, food comes first, she thought.

William sent over 3 pieces of brown sugar with a note: [I’m not into sweets. For you.] Then he sent 3 glass and added: [I don’t need these either. Take these.]

Leeanne raised an eyebrow, accepted the brown sugar and glass, and sent over the lit brazier.

William replied right away: [Thanks. This is awesome. You could totally sell it. People would go all out to get their hands on one.]

That’s exactly what I wanted,Leeanne thought. She collected her fishing net, obtaining two cod, one bass, and three squid. Then, she started cooking up some oatmeal.

Then she went ahead and made another brazier. After a moment’s thought, she sent it over to Rodger with a note: [Just send me two wood and one iron.]

Rodger started a video call with her right away. Leeanne tapped accept. Rodger’s face was practically glowing with excitement.

He said, Leeanne, you’re a genius. Seriously, these braziers are your ticket to getting filthy rich.

It only takes two wood and one iron to make, right? You could ask for fifty wood and fifty iron each, and people would still be lining up to buy them.”

Leeanne replied, People don’t have that much iron.Having five or six pieces was considered a lot. Asking for 30 iron? Only a handful could afford that.

She already had a plan. I’ll sell each brazier for two iron and ten wood.

Rodger said, Are you running a charity or something?

Leeanne cast her eyes down. Even selling at that price, I’ll still make several times what I spent. That’s enough.

Rodger couldn’t really describe how he felt. He stole a glance at Leeanne, her head bowed.

Leeanne was gorgeous, but even when she smiled at people, there was always this chill and aloofness in her eyes, like she was impossible to get close to.
