Meanwhile, Leeanne was busy crafting a smelting furnace. [Smelting Furnace: Smelt certain minerals into specific items. Requires 1 Basic Smelting Furnace Blueprint and 10 iron. Craft now?]

Yeah!Leeanne replied.

A notification popped up: [The smelting furnace was made successfully. Please place it.]

The smelting furnace stood over 3 feet tall, and Leeanne couldn’t spot any flames inside.

Just like the workbench, it had an interface on top displaying several options: [Nails (10): Super handy, you know what they’re for. Required materials: 1 iron.

[Iron: A common and versatile mineral. Smelt 10 nails to get 1 iron. Required materials: 10 nails.

[Compressed coal (10): A combustible item made from coal chunks. Required materials: 10 coal chunks, 1 loam soil, I water.]

Seeing the options, Leeanne remembered she needed to add some compressed coal to the stove.

Luckily, she had plenty of coal chunks, so she whipped up 10 compressed coal chunks and dropped one into the stove.

People started calling her in the chat channel: [Leeanne, please, help me. I’m freezing!]

Another chimed in: [Leeanne, I’ve got something good to trade for a brazier. Check your messages!]

A third texted: [Ugh, Leeanne’s inbox must be overflowing. She probably can’t even see my message. Leeanne, I’ve got an incubator that can hatch all sorts of eggs. Want to trade for a brazier?]

Someone else replied: [Hey, an incubator’s a real treasure. How can you just give it away?]

That guy replied: [What choice do I have? If I freeze to death, none of this stuff matters. I held out too long already because I didn’t want to lose it.

[Now I’m freezing, coughing nonstop. If I don’t get warm soon, I won’t see tomorrow.]

Rodger quickly sent Leeanne a private message. [Leeanne, hurry! Someone wants to trade you an incubator.]

Rodger, Jessica, William, and Danelle were all Leeanne’s friends, so she always paid extra attention to their messages. She saw Rodger’s right away.

The guy selling the incubator was named Clark Copeland, and Leeanne reached out to him immediately.

Clark was a fiftyyearold man, calm and reliable. He knew the incubator would be super useful in the future, so he had always been reluctant to let it go.

But his health was poor. He had chronic bronchitis, and the cold made his cough get way worse.

Reluctantly, he decided to trade the incubator for survival Leeanne agreed right away. She whipped up a brazier and made the trade with Clark.

The incubator was basically a box with an external temperature control panel, and one could use it to hatch all kinds of eggs

Leeanne tapped the incubator’s panel, set the temperature to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and put in the wild pheasant eggs she had found earlier today.

It could hold exactly ten wild pheasant eggs. After placing the eggs and closing the lid, she cradled the incubator and headed into the mystical cherry grove.

Leeanne set it up there, hoping the grove’s accelerated time would help the chicks hatch faster.

Stepping into the mystical cherry grove, Leeanne gasped. Its area had expanded significantly. The white mist had receded, and she guessed the uncovered land was now about a quarter acre.

The cherry tree stood completely uncovered now, its petals fluttering down, looking even more faded than before.

Still, there was only that one cherry tree. Guess she’d have to start planting things herself.

The cabbage and spring onions she had planted earlier had already sprouted, looking all lush and green.

Leeanne was thrilled. With so much land, there was so much she could plant. Once the watermelon seeds were dry, she’d get those in the ground too.

After thinking it over, she went outside, grabbed the grape seedlings, and planted them here as well.

Leeanne was in a hurry to head out and make more braziers, so she only spent about ten minutes on all this. Everyone was freezing and spamming her with messages.

Someone pleaded: [Leeanne, I’m really out of options here. I’ve broken down all my remaining wooden boxes and got 9 nails and 9 pieces of wood.

[I also have 5 plastic pieces, 2 pieces of bread roll, a piece of pink cloth, and a roll of rope. Is there any way you could trade me a brazier?]

Someone else scoffed: [Man, that stuff’s basically worthless. Don’t kid yourself.]

Another replied: [Come on, the pink cloth looks pretty good, though.]

Someone chimed in: [Seriously, what he’s offering isn’t even in the same league as a brazier.]

With Leeanne’s inbox totally swamped, people started posting their supplies in the chat channel, hoping to catch her attention for a brazier trade.

But most of what they had was way too ordinary, and nobody thought it was even possible to score a brazier with that stuff.

To everyone’s surprise, Leeanne messaged back, [Deal. Just trade me everything except the bread roll, and I’ll give a brazier.]

People were buzzing with excitement. [For real? Leeanne’s such a legend!]

Another asked: [I’ve got 3 iron and 10 wood. Can I trade for a brazier?]

A third replied: [Dude, don’t push it. That’s not nearly enough.]

Leeanne replied: [You got it.] Selling braziers was a sweet deal for Leeanne. As long as she got more than I iron and 2 wood for each, she was coming out ahead.

E She had to figure out what people could actually offer, and she had already decided that 2 iron and 8 wood was a fair trade.

With that price, more people could afford a brazier, and she’d end up with way more supplies.

If Leeanne made the price too high, players would run around trading for stuff and waste time, and she’d miss out on a ton

of orders.

But before she could drop the new price, Leeanne knew she had to smooth things over.

She didn’t want those who had paid top dollar for a brazier to feel ripped off. And she wanted the folks getting a deal to see her as a lifesaver.

Leeanne texted: [My inbox is flooded, and I can see how tough things are for everyone. Most of you don’t have enough supplies to trade for a brazier, and I know you’re all freezing.

[If you don’t get one, you might not even make it through the night. Even if you do, you’ll probably end up sick and weak for days, maybe even risking your life.
