Lecanne got the message. Lucas, Apprentice 8, and Apprentice 9 all didn’t want her to go to Gold Silk Island.

But she had to fix the Crescent Harp fast. Time was running out.

Bob said quietly, Luminara has gone out looking for some wine. She’s not around right now, and she probably won’t be back for a couple of hours.”

Apprentice 9 said, Bob, don’t mess with her. If she takes the Gold Silk Thread, Luminara’s definitely not going to let her get away with it.

Bob snorted, Just let her be. She’s got nerves of steel. She’d steal from anyone if she wanted!

Leeanne made up her mind fast. Mr. Bob, are you sure the Gold Silk Thread is really on Gold Silk Island? And if I bring it back, can you actually fix the Crescent Harp?

Bob replied, The Gold Silk Thread is in the treasure chest in Luminara’s room. Bring it to me and give me ten minutes tops, then I’ll have the Crescent Harp good as new.

Leeanne pressed, Any specifics? Like, where exactly is Luminara’s room, or anything else I should know?

Bob raised an eyebrow. That’s all you get. Are you going or not?

Leeanne said, Alright, I’m going. Mr. Bob, can you send me over?

Apprentice 23 frowned. No, you can’t go!

She pulled Leeanne aside and said seriously, Luminara’s nothing like Bob. She’s super sensitive. Don’t even think about messing with her Gold Silk Thread!

Leeanne felt helpless. So what am I supposed to do?

If she didn’t deal with the merman prince soon, once he turned evil and went on a killing spree, there was no way she could stop him.

She had to finish this mission, no matter what.

She couldn’t count on anyone else either, as they were even further behind than she was.

Apprentice 23’s brows furrowed. If I’d known things would turn out like this, I never should’ve let you come.”

Leeanne patted her on the shoulder. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”

Bob grumbled, Enough already! Are you going or not? If not, I’m done waiting.

Leeanne hurriedly said, I’m going, I’m going! I’m on my way!

Bob stood up.

He stepped aside, took out an item, and threw it, creating a vortex gate in front of him.

Then, he pointed at it. Go through there, and you’ll land on Gold Silk Island. You’ll be back here in an hour, no more, no less. That’s all the time you’ve got. Don’t waste it, go!

With that, he shoved Leeanne, sending her straight into the swirling portal.

Chapter 251

Right before Leeanne was shoved into the swirling portal, she heard Lucas shout, Hey, old man, you got it wrong! It’s two hours, not one! Luminara could be back by then!

Bob just snorted, Bah, she’ll manage to get away if she has to.”

Leeanne was speechless.

Her head was spinning, and suddenly she was standing on something wobbly.

It was a branch.

Crap, this tree’s way too small. It can’t hold my weight, Leeanne thought.

With a loud crack, the branch snapped, and Leeanne dropped straight to the ground.

Whoa, that’s soft. Didn’t even hurt,’ she thought.

Whimperwhimperouch!came a pained cry from underneath her.

Leeanne scrambled to her feet and realized she’d landed right on a small gray animal.

It looked like a civet, only bigger.

Leeanne glanced at its stats. [Tier 1 Mutated Civet].

Seriously? Tier 1? That’s just too low,she thought.

The mutated civet yelped a few times, then scurried away, dragging its leg behind.

Shoot, did I just mess up its leg?Leeanne thought, feeling a bit guilty.

But she didn’t stay guilty for long. She gave her butt a quick pat and started scoping out the area.

The island was pretty small, with trees everywhere and grass as green as ever. Most of the trees weren’t very tall. The tallest were only about 15 feet high.

There were many mulberry trees, but they bore no fruit.

Alright, gotta find Luminara’s place, Leeanne thought. But where is it?

Leeanne let Little Blue and Snowy out, then said to Little Blue, Fly around and see if you spot any houses, um, nicelooking

ones.

Nonplayer characters probably live in fancy twostory villas, just like the one Bob gave Bob 13, Leeanne thought to herself.

Little Blue let out a cheerful chirp and soared off.

Leeanne and Snowy picked a random trail and started exploring the area.

The island felt pretty safe. After walking around for quite a while, they still hadn’t seen any highlevel animals anywhere.

About half an hour later, Little Blue swooped down from the sky. Nothing, nothing, not a house in sight!

Leeanne was surprised. Really? How can there not be any?

Does Luminara really live in a tent? No way. Mr. Bob definitely said to go to her house, Leeanne mused.

Chapter 251

She paused, then told Little Blue, Take another look. Anything that even sorta looks like a house counts.

Little Blue took off again.

Leeanne figured she needed to switch up her thinking. Maybe Luminara doesn’t live in some fancy villa after all. What if she’s holed up in a cave or just a mudbrick shack?she thought. Well, anything is possible.’

She and Snowy wandered all over, while Little Blue kept flying overhead. They searched for a long time, and after almost another hour, they hadn’t even found a single bump in the ground, let alone a house.

Leeanne was getting frantic. Bob said Luminara would be back in two or three hours, so she only had four hours total. Half her time was already gone, and she still hadn’t found the place.

How could this be?Leeanne was so anxious that she broke into a hot sweat.

The island wasn’t very large. She wandered around in circles and ended up back at the spot where she had first landed, still hadn’t found a thing.

She sat on the stone in distress and took a rest for a while.

Without thinking, she opened up the chat screen.

The chat was still buzzing with activity,

[Hey, I saw the prince too! So happy! He splashed me with water and left.]

[What’s so exciting about that? Can you finish the quest?]

[Well, I don’t even care about the quest. Just seeing the prince is good enough for me. By the way, I heard if you get the prince an instrument, he’ll warm up to you. Anyone else giving it a shot?]

[Seriously? For real?]

[Yeah, that’s what my bottle note said.]

[Valentine’s bottle note said if you crack some jokes for the prince, he’ll totally be into you!]

Bailey paused for a moment. She looked at the merman prince, unsure whether to deliver the prepared standup comedy monologue.

Well, there’s no musical instrument, and I’ve practiced the monologue for so long. It has to come in useful somehow, she thought.

Bailey cleared her throat and said softly, Elvis, I’ve got a funny story. Want to hear it?

The merman prince sat on his big shell, looking at Bailey like she was a little weird.

Bailey said, This one’s called Rising Through the Ranks. So, it was said

Bailey had the story memorized, but that was about it. She had plenty of talents, just not comedy. She didn’t have a funny bone in her body. The way she told it, it sounded more like she was reading from a script than cracking a joke.
