Bailey looked a bit confused. “What are you all doing here?”

Danelle grinned. “We all took part, so of course we’re here to claim our rewards.”

Bailey immediately grew wary. “Are you… are you trying to steal our credit?”

Danelle clicked her tongue, teasing her. “Hey, watch your words, kid. We all took down that mermaid together, so why shouldn’t we be here? You really think you guys could’ve killed that evil mermaid all by yourselves?”

Bailey was furious. “You’re shameless!”

We were the ones who found the mermaid first. Back then, Valentine was just standing by, watching. When he saw us start attacking the mermaid, he couldn’t stand it and called everyone else over.

The others came and started stirring up trouble, attacking the mermaid all over the place and making it even harder for us.

Now, these people are shamelessly claiming they helped take down the mermaid.

She was really pissed off!

Bailey was even more frustrated. How was she supposed to just let it slide? Every single one of them was at least seven or eight, even ten years older than her, and none of them were acting the least bit reasonable.

Leeanne sent Enrique a private message. “When the Mermaid Queen shows up, keep your distance and don’t let anyone know you were involved in killing the mermaid.”

Seeing everyone else suddenly slipping away, Valentine got the hint and became more cautious.

Everyone turned to look at the Mermaid Palace.

The Mermaid Palace was constructed from shells, pearls, and coral, with colorful accents set against a mostly white backdrop. It looked gorgeous, and above the tall gates, “Mermaid Palace” was written in elegant script.

Strangely, there was no water anywhere near the palace, creating a dry area that stood out in this underwater world.

Two mermaid guards stood watch by the gates, holding long spears. When they saw the crowd talking noisily, one of them walked over.

The mermaid guard said sternly, “Unauthorized persons, stay away from the Mermaid Palace!”

Since the guards didn’t attack the humans, it was obvious they weren’t hostile toward them.

Bailey hurried forward. “I’m here to report to the Queen. We took down an evil mermaid!”

The guard nodded. “The Queen said to wait here.”

He nodded at the other guard, who headed inside.

Before long, the Mermaid Queen rushed over, accompanied by several guards.

The Mermaid Queen looked around eagerly. “Who was it that killed the evil mermaid?”

Bailey quickly stepped forward. “That was me, Your Highness!”

The Mermaid Queen raised her eyebrows in surprise. “You did it on your own?”

Bailey and the others had already agreed she’d claim the main credit, so she replied, “Yes, it was mostly me. My friends gave me a hand, but I led the charge.”

Liam shoved his way to the front. “Yeah, I’m her friend. I played a key part in all this. You could even say I did the most when it came to taking down that evil mermaid!”

Bailey gritted her teeth. Liam had promised he’d just lend a hand and wouldn’t try to claim the glory.

‘How is this not stealing credit? Typical-what a backstabber,’ Bailey thought.

Everyone except Rodger, Danelle, and Enrique’s crew started chiming in, insisting they’d contributed too.

Valentine quietly slipped back a bit.

The Mermaid Queen smiled. “Alright, where’s the corpse of the evil mermaid? Show it to me!”

At that moment, everyone in the chat channel was focused on what was happening here.

Some spectators even posted screenshots, capturing the moment Bailey stood face-to-face with the Mermaid Queen.

Bailey let out a scream as the blast slammed right into her chest, sending her flying across the room. She crashed into a jagged coral reef, spitting up several mouthfuls of blood in a row.

The rest weren’t any luckier. Most got blasted by the golden light, dropping to the ground and groaning nonstop.

The unluckiest ones were Jared, Callum, and Liam, who happened to be closest to Bailey. They got badly hurt

too.

Enrique, Rodger, Valentine and their crew were a bit better off, just feeling some pain.

The only ones who were totally fine were Leeanne, Gideon, and Emmett. They hadn’t gotten involved in the fight at all and just watched the chaos from way off in the distance.

Everyone was stunned.

Someone was even recording the whole thing, but they got blasted away too, and the footage turned into a mess of static and blur.

Still, that blurry mess got posted in the chat channel anyway.
