Chapter 20: We will Protect Her

Third Person POV

The next day…

A car pulled up to the Royal Moon packhouse. Alpha Philip and Luna Elsa climbed out of the car with their betas, Grant and Aria. Gamma Eric and Gamma Female Hazel were left to care for the pack while the alpha was away. Even Derrick, Beta Grant’s eldest son, climbed out after his parents.

Luna Esla clung to her mate’s hand as if it were a lifeline. Alpha Philip gently rubbed his thumb over the back of her knuckles. “Be calm, my love. We both know that Alpha King Luca and Luna Queen Melody would never let any harm come to our little one under their care.” He told her. He and his wolf, Falcon,

hated seeing their mate so upset.

It has been over a decade since their mate was this worked up. Luna Elsa leaned into her mate’s body more. Allowing his scent and heartbeat to ease her nerves. “I know. They are kind and honest rulers. I just worry about my baby girl. It is just like when she first came into our lives.” Elsa said.

Alpha Philip nodded. As did his beta. All the ranked members remembered that time. It was 12 years ago. When Luna Elsa had a breech delivery with their second child. In the attempts to correct the position of the little one, its umbilical cord had been damaged and leading to a stillbirth of their pup. Luna Elsa was devastated and started to withdraw from everyone, including her mate. She would just sit in her hospital bed, rubbing her fingers over the medical bracelet of the pup she lost. She went days without eating and hardly sleeping. Then on the night of the full moon, the Moon Goddess sent them a gift.

Flashback… 12 years ago

Alpha Philip was walking around in the forest. His beast was restless tonight. Didn’t want to be in the pack house. Alpha Philip was also wondering how he could help his Luna through this hard time. She won’t talk to anyone. She won’t eat. She wakes up from what little sleep she gets, screaming from nightmares and

crying more and more each day,

Suddenly, a terrifying scream filled the night, sending both Philip and his wolf on high alert. Without thinking, he shifted and dashed off towards the scream. It was coming from a little bit beyond the border of his pack lands. The scent started off light, but as he drew closer, the smell of blood made him want to

throw up.

Reaching the top of an incline, Alpha Philip stopped to take in his surroundings. At the bottom of the hill was an adult man, pinning a young girl to a tree. Fear sliced his heart as he saw the man rip out the silver dagger that was once lodged in the girl’s shoulder. The amount of blood that came from the wound enraged his wolf even more, but it was the scream that came from the young girl that led him to kill.

Without wasting any more time. Alpha Philip launched him self down the hill with a vicious snarl that made the man freeze for just a moment. That was all the Alpha needed. He wasn’t going to waste time talking like he normally would. This girl was in danger and needed her wounds to be treated as soon as

Before the man could even turn around to see his death coming. Alpha Philip had latched onto the back of

his throat as he tackled the man from the side. Alpha Philip clamped his jaws down tight. Blood filled his

mouth. He then started to shake his head side to side violently as his front paws clawed at the man’s

body. ‘There will not even be enough to bury. His mind thought before a small whimper broke him out of

his rage.

Alpha Philip stopped tearing the man apart and turned to see that the girl was weakly trying to scoot away

from him. With the man dead, he used his wolf’s sense of smell and heightened hearing to see if there were any other threats to him or the girl. When all was clear, he then shifted back into his human form and

carefully approached the girl.

She continued to cry and whimper as she tried to get her body to move. Alpha Philip’s heart broke when he

noticed just how small the little girl actually was. ‘Philip, she can not be any more than six or seven years old.’ Falcon said to him. ‘Yes, and that silver wound she has made this even worse.‘ Philip replied.

Silver wounds took even the strongest werewolves and vampires to heal from. Even then, the wounds would need to be stitched closed so that the person didn’t bleed to death. “Calm now, little one. I am not going to hurt you.” Alpha Philip said as he slowly came closer towards her. She continued to try and escape him. Reaching out his arms to pick her up… Alpha Philip and his wolf received an unexpected

shock.

The girl’s eye turned into a swirl of red and purple as she attempted to snarl and hiss at him before latching her small fangs into his left wrist. Alpha Philip flinched a bit at the pain, but didn’t make a move towards or away from the girl. He could see she was still trembling and could smell her fear. Like any frightened creature that was backed into a corner… she did only what she could do.

With his right hand. Alpha Philip gently stroked the girl’s hair. He felt her stiffen before she bit down even harder, but he continued to stroke her hair and give off a small amount of his alpha aura. In small amounts and as long as he remained calm. His alpha aura had a similar effect to his mate’s luna aura. Giving pack members a sense of safety and peace,

“There, there, little one. No one is ever going to harm you here. You are safe.” He said in a soft and gentle tone. He was curious as to how a vampire child was being chased by a rogue werewolf, but there was no time for questions after getting her back to the pack clinic and taking care of her.

As if seeing the truth in his eye. The girl released her bite on the alpha’s wrist and even licked the wound to heal it. Alpha Philip was surprised at that since supernatural beings like vampires and werewolves don’t get the healing enzymes in their saliva until their teenage years. As that is when most start to get horny, and sometimes sex can get a bit rough from some… especially since most wolves and vampires were biters when having sex.

Still as slow and gently as he could. Alpha Philip picked the girl up as she offered no resistance. She seemed to feel relaxed and sleepy as he lay her against his chest and started running towards the pack clinic. ‘Aria, I need you at the clinic. He said to his beta’s mate. ‘Already there, Alpha.‘ She replied without

Grant and Eric stiffened at how much blood was on their alpha, as Aria and Hazel were more concerned for the child that their alpha was holding. Aria sniffed the blood and felt her own fangs extend, and a powerful hunger hit her.

Without saying anything, she latched herself onto her mate’s neck. Drinking deeply from him. “Aria?” Grant asked with a husky note. Filling her senses with her mate. Aria then held her breath and pulled a nose clip from her pocket. It was a special nose clip that Parker Dragneel from the Raven Moon pack had made after his vampire mate wished to be a nurse. It is to help vampires who can not handle the smell of large amounts of blood or certain types of blood. It varied from vampire to vampire the effects that certain blood types had on them. The nose clip was like their own respirator to avoid horrible outcomes from happening from a vampire coming in contact with a strong blood type. Aria always carried a few as she loved to help out in the clinic.

Aria didn’t know why, but now was not the time to find out. This girl’s blood drew out her vampire’s hunger with a powerful intensity. After clipping her nose, she returned her attention to the girl in her alpha’s arms.

I am okay. Let me see her.” Aria said as she came closer. The girl looked over her shoulder and hissed at

Aria. Clinging to the alpha, she bared her fangs again as her eyes turned red.

Before anyone could move or do anything. A soft and gentle aura suddenly filled the waiting room. Aria

and the others turned to see their Luna, tired and thin, standing behind them. Her eyes were solely on the

child in her mate’s arms. The luna closed the distance while maintaining her aura. Humming gently like a
