The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 102

[Base production increased by 10%!]

Hayley blinked, too stunned for words.

Two consecutive rewards popped up, both practical and powerful.

This system was amazing!

When Hayley checked the new stats, she noticed a new category had been added after her total points and crystal core count: base prosperity level.

She opened the panel to see more details.

[Current Base Residents: 19

Base Guards: 1

Base Dogs: 16

Territory Size: approximately 16 square miles

Farming Area: 30 acres

Current Base Prosperity Level: 60 (Rural Village)]

Hayley stared at it in silence.

Rural Village? That title hurt a little.

[Base prosperity level is determined by multiple factors. Title upgrade will unlock bonus rewards!]

She glanced at the next level.

[Base Prosperity Level 500: Township.]

Hayley decided she would aim for that township level.

All for the glory of Haylight Base! Next target: the Township title!

Hayley left the residential zone and told everyone to pick their own houses. As long as it was inside her territory, they could

move in.

Since Hayley had limited tech resources available, she recorded everyone’s points manually and made two copies, one for her and one for them. If they needed to exchange points for materials, they could tell Anthony, and Cloudia would deliver them the next day.

Hayley was still trying to figure things out. Resources and manpower were short, so this would have to do for now.

To compensate, Hayley gave Anthony’s family 100 points as a stipend. From now on, their rent would be deducted at ten points a day, and they wouldn’t need to hand over daily yields.

Once everyone was settled, Hayley distributed seeds for farming and asked Anthony to lead the planting effort before heading

out.

On the road, Leonard kept glancing her way.

What are you staring at?she asked.

Driving with full focus, Leonard said seriously, Nothing. I just think you’re an outstanding leader.

Hayley blinked again.

That came out of nowhere. Was hetrying to ask for pay?

After thinking for a few seconds, she sighed. Fine. You’ve been working the hardest. You deserve a salary. From now on, you’ll get 100 points a month. If you need anything, you can trade with me directly.

Leonard chuckled quietly.

What? You think that’s too little? A hundred points is plenty! That can get you a hundred pounds of grain!

Hayley started counting on her fingers.

Don’t forget, you basically sold yourself to me. I cover your food, your bed, and even your basic needs. What more do you want? You should be grateful! Alright, that’s settled. Once the base grows, maybe I’ll give you a bones. I’m tired; I’m taking a nap.

Yawning, Hayley leaned back and pretended to sleep.

There was no way she was going to give Leonard a raise. She was sticking to her pennypinching ways to the end. Leonard, who was usually stoic, smiled softly as he gripped the steering wheel, driving steadily down the road.
