The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 116

Chapter 116

“Yes, Boss!”

Leonard dropped his backpack on the floor. He pulled out a portable camp stove with built-in alcohol burner. Then, he took out not one, not two, but three large metal lunchboxes,

The first one was packed to the brim with sliced beef

The second box held golden-brown ribs, fried until crisp, then coated with a thick layer of melted cheese.

The third and largest box, easily weighing over 20 pounds, was filled with fresh, raw, meaty bones.

Everyone around, including Nadia and her team, froze in shock.

Holy crap!

Meat. All of it was meat.

There were beef and ribs, all premium cuts! Not even a single leaf of lettuce in sight. They had so much meat that they couldn’t be bothered with vegetables!

For a second, everyone’s faces burned with embarrassment.

They had just been thinking Hayley’s crew would go crazy over a single egg. But looking at this? The difference between them couldn’t be any bigger.

And just as they were trying to swallow their pride, their jaws dropped again when Hayley spoke.

“Flush, Straight, you two go ahead and eat. When you’re done, send the others over for their turn.”

“Woof, woof!”

Hayley pushed the box of meaty bones toward the dogs. They wagged their tails and dug in happily.

The massive bowl had a layer of dog food on the bottom and fresh, meaty bones piled on top. The meal was balanced in nutrition and enough for them to eat their fill.

Nadia’s team stared in disbelief.

Was she serious? That was what she fed the dogs? People were starving out there, and she was feeding prime meat to her dogs?!

Everyone on that side was completely stunned.

Meanwhile, Derek and the others were in awe when they saw that Hayley was still being so generous with the “staff meals”.

She was truly something else, living large no matter where she went.

“Leonard, boil up some of that instant noodles we picked up earlier and share it with the others,” Hayley said generously.

“On it.” Leonard got to work right away.

They had gathered a bunch of instant noodles, canned hams, and jerky during their earlier sweep. The combination with the stew they had brought along was perfection.

Leonard tore open ten packs of noodles and dropped in some jerky, then let the bubbling pot of stew cook itself to a rich, savory

boil.

Derek and the others were practically drooling.

“Captain Caldwell, come sit down. We’ll save you a bowl,” Hayley said.

“Yeah, Captain, come on!”

“Sit right hete!”

The guys had no shame about it. The moment Hayley offered, they dragged their captain over to join.

Why miss out on a good meal when you could share Hayley’s loot?

Liam looked at the steaming stew and at his team, then shook his head. “No, you guys go ahead and eat.”

He took back his plain boxed meal. After all, as part of Base K1’s leadership, he still had an image to maintain.

He let the others eat with Hayley while he walked back to his group.

Hayley didn’t try to stop him. She wasn’t the type to beg anyone to eat.

When Leonard lifted the lid, the rich aroma filled the entire basement area.

The cheesy ribs melted into the golden noodles, mixing with the sliced beef, ham, and jerky. The smell alone could drive anyone

crazy.

“Wow, that smells amazing!”
