Chapter 122
Chapter 172
Thank god they made it out!
Right then, loud gunshots rang out,
Behind them, everyone opened fire to hold back the child zombies while Nadia sprinted for the quarantine-room controls.
“Come on, close already! Start the destruction protocol!” she shouted, slamming buttons like a madwoman before everyone
inside had even cleared the doorway.
Hayley had already had enough. She kicked Nadia so hard that the woman flew back.
“Damn it! You idiot!”
Hayley planted herself at the door and controlled the closing sequence, and barked, “Three seconds!”
After that, she started shouting to everyone still inside.
“Three!”
A tide of child zombies poured toward the exit. More slammed hard against the observation glass.
“Two!”
Crack! Spiderweb fractures raced across the glass as the child zombies’ heads smashed into it again and again. Each hit flattened their faces an inch or two more. Their expressions grew more warped and monstrous. 1
“One!”
Crash!
Shards of glass showered the floor.
At that moment, the last of the special-ops soldiers dove through the doorway.
Boom!
The quarantine-room door slammed shut with bone-rattling force.
“Thank you!” Liam panted, staring at the woman who had closed the door for them.
For the first time, his usually cold face softened.
The others crowded around Hayley, full of gratitude.
“Boss! You saved us!”
“It’s all thanks to you!”
“What’s that about a destruction protocol?” Hayley cut in.
“There’s a self-destruct system in the research facility,” Liam explained “After we leave, we’ll trigger it to burn everything down.”
At that exact moment, the huge glass security doors at the far end of the hall began to open with a grinding click.
Then, the lights on B2 died out all at once Only the elevator lobby lights remained
Nadia stood there, clutching her stomach and grinning with glee
“My dad said to kill you all if possible,” she crowed “Perfect timing! That tramp is in there, too. You’ll all die together, then
Hahaha!”

It turned out she had deliberately sabotaged the entire mission. That was also why she repeatedly let Hayley tag along.
After Nadia swiped her admin card hard against the reader, alarms blared across the floor, and a robotic voice rang out.
“Self-destruct sequence will start in 30 seconds.”
In that instant, every sealed door on B2 opened.
Rooms that had been locked and filled with zombies were thrown widę.
Nadia laughed like a demon. She slammed the level’s main doors closed again, then darted for the elevator.
