Chapter 145
Chapter 1445
Hayley watched Griffin slip slowly into the shadows.
Her brow tightened a little.
Today, she had learned a bit more about this troublemaker from the last life. They’d had a heart-to-heart talk, but for some reason, his loyalty hadn’t budged at all. It sat there, rock-solid, at 59.
This guy…
Just then, she heard Leonard’s voice from downstairs.
“Boss! Boss!”
“Yeah, I’m here!”
When Hayley heard Leonard burst in, her head snapped like a loose string.
No way.
She took off like the wind, racing down the stairs.
On the first-floor supermarket, Leonard came barreling up, out of breath.
“Boss, thank God you’re okay!”
“Where’s Griffin?” Hayley demanded.
“He said you were in danger inside and told me to come help!”
Hayley froze.
Then, she tore toward the entrance to chase after Griffin.
At the doorway, a convertible screamed past, the driver waving wildly at Hayley as he sped off.
“Captain Gorgeous, I gotta go! Thanks for the supplies! You’re adorable! Next time, I’ll sleep with you!” the man in the car shouted.
Hayley stared at the empty supermarket, then realization hit her hard.
Damn it.
Griffin really was an inventory-variant Gifted.
She had been played.
Hayley was furious. She stamped her foot in anger.
“You son of a… Just you wait! Next time I see you, I’ll break your legs! You’re finished!” she screamed, every part of her as hing with rage.
Well, she was playing with fire, and she couldn’t really avoid getting burned eventually
Still, she had always been the one to trick others This was the first time she had been conned
And she had actually believed his pathetic sob story
That jerk had lied to her from the start. He joined up only to score supplies
Hayley cursed him inwardly over and over
Chapter 145
What a piece of work!
“Leonard, remember this,” Hayley said through gritted teeth. “From now on, Griffin Quinn is Haylight Base’s number one enemy. Don’t trust a word he says. If you see him, grab him and break his legs. I’m going to make him pay!”
“Got it,” Leonard muttered.
Hayley counted the inventory in a fury.
The one small blessing was that Griffin only took food from the first floor. He hadn’t touched the toiletries and clothing on floors two and three. Those he had ignored.
So mostly, it was the clothes Leonard had gathered into a pile that Griffin hauled off.
