“I used to work here during summer break,” Scarlett said to Hayley as she followed behind Hayley.
“Really?”
“There are a lot of guesthouses and small hotels around here. I worked at one of them.”
“Where are they, exactly?”
“In the alleys around these tourist spots.”
“How busy did it used to be?”
“Pretty crowded during holidays. Summer was good for business, too.”
Just then, they heard a strange sound.
In the narrow alley, a woman who looked heavily pregnant was standing with her back to them.
She seemed to be in terrible pain, leaning against the wall as her body shook violently. Her thin maternity nightdress flutte wildly.
From time to time, she let out low groans.
She looked like she was about to give birth.
“How could there be someone giving birth here?” Scarlett whispered, her face turning pale.
Suddenly, there was a wet, ripping sound.
The pregnant woman gave birth to a zombie baby. The moment it hit the ground, it rolled toward Hayley and Scarlett, its umbilical cord still attached.
At the same time, the woman turned around, revealing a hideous, blue-black zombie face. She opened her mouth wide
“Raarh!”
She grabbed the zombie baby that was still attached to her by the cord and threw it straight at them.
One baby rolled on the ground. Another flew through the air.
Scarlett froze at the sight. She had never seen anything like this before.
Before she could release her fire ability, there was a flash of steel. Both cords were severed in an instant
Then Hayley swung her blade up and down, splitting both zombie babies in halt
The pregnant zombie seemed to sense the loss of connection and flew into an even craster tage, lunging straight at Hayley
Hayley hurled her saber, pinning the zombie to the street in Timbertall
They had barely caught their breath when something worse happened From the back of that alley, a swarm of temale zontales \ carrying zomble infants poured out
“What the bell is this place?” Hayley snapped
“Wait, I know where this is” Scarlett said. “This was a maternity care comer that just opened this year!”
Hayley didn’t know how to react. A maternity center wasically what you expect to find in a louitst spot

“Over here, now!”
From the second floor of a nearby building, a ladder dropped down. A man wrapped head to toe in protective gear waved frantically at them.
Hayley didn’t hesitate. “Let’s head up!”
She climbed up quickly into the building with Scarlett.
As soon as they were inside, a huge number of zombies gathered below.
They howled and clawed, and some of the smaller zombie children were even thrown upward. They slammed against the second -floor windows, shrieking and scraping at the glass.
