Chapter 282
“No!” Oscar Hersey snatched the water from Lizzie. “There are so many of us here! You’ve almost finished it. Don’t the rest of us get to drink, too?”
“Oscar, I want some,” said his girlfriend, Wendy Skeldon, tugging on his sleeve.
Oscar hesitated, then handed the little bit of water to her.
After Wendy took a sip, there was barely anything left in the bottle. She looked at the others. “You guys drink.”
Ned and Cecilia weren’t that thirsty, so they shook their heads and didn’t take any.
Bradley was actually pretty thirsty, but when he looked at his girlfriend, he gave up the last sip instead.
“Lindsay, you drink it.”
“Okay.” Lindsay Butler lifted the bottle and drank the final mouthful.
“Let’s move. Stay close to her.”
“I feel like she doesn’t really want to take us with her.”
“Yeah. It seems like she doesn’t want us following her at all.”
“I’ve got an idea!” Bradley suddenly said, then took off running toward Hayley. “Hey, miss! Miss!”
Hayley didn’t slow down as she carried Griffin. “What?”
“I know the layout here. I can guide you out,” Bradley said.
Hayley looked around at the underground parking garage, where she couldn’t see the end in any direction. “What’s the catch?”
“Take us with you.”
Hayley glanced at the crowd packed behind him. “I’ll allow you to follow me at most. Your lives are your own responsibility, and you’re not allowed to cause trouble.”
Bradley thought about it for a second. “Deal. As long as you let us follow.”
With Hayley’s combat power, as long as they didn’t fall behind and stayed close, they would be safe.
Bradley figured that out immediately.
He waved hard at the others. “Hurry up! She said we can follow her!”
The rest of them rushed forward at once.
Hayley looked at the group that was already pushing into her safety range. “Let me be clear. If you die, that’s on you. I won’t stop for anyone.”
Everyone nodded stiffly.
“One more thing. Check each other for injuries. If anyone hides something, they die.”
This time, everyone listened without arguing
As soon as Hayley finished speaking, Lizzie stepped backward.
“Lizzie, what’s wrong?”
“Why are you backing away?”

“Lizzie, your arm is hurt!” Wendy screamed. She was the closest and immediately saw blood slowly running down Lizzie’s arm.
“I-I didn’t get bitten. This happened when I was moving Digby’s body. I scraped it on a corner. A zombie didn’t do this!” Lizzie rushed to explain.
But the moment she said that, everyone else backed away from her.
“Really, please believe me! Cecilia, Lindsay, Wendy, we’ve been roommates for three years. You know my character better than anyone!”
The three girls looked torn and hesitant, but the three guys stayed firm.
“No way. No one can prove your injury wasn’t caused by a zombie!”
“You’re all bullying me because Digby’s gone!” Lizzie shouted, backing away as she yelled. “He treated you like brothers. He shared everything good he had with you! His body is right there, and not one of you helped him! You’re all selfish, cold, and heartless!”
With that, she turned and ran.
