Chapter 300
Alex’s eager attempt to distance himself left everyone from the Cooks completely stunned.

Hearing that, Hayley nodded in approval, as if praising him for finally using his brain. “That’s some progress. Good thing you figured it out fast. Otherwise, I’d have hit you, too.”
Everyone was stunned speechless.
Mandy stared at Alex in disbelief. “Alex, didn’t we just agree we were going to form a league together?”
Alex looked at her with eyes as cold and sharp as knives, filled with nothing but disgust.
He turned to explain to Hayley. “They wanted to form a league with me. I only had a tiny bit of interest, and not much at that. They’re basically useless. Just parasites trying to latch onto me for benefits.”
Ironlock Base didn’t actually have any resources.
The only thing they could offer was a so-called alliance title.
The Cooks knew perfectly well they didn’t have the strength to truly cooperate with Alex. That was why they were desperately trying to push Mandy toward him.
As long as Mandy caught Alex’s eye, even as his mistress, Ironlock Base would have a powerful backer. They would have guaranteed food and protection.
Hearing Alex say that, Hayley laughed and turned to Griffin. “Now I get it. They’re trying to take the same route your mom did. They have nothing, but still wanna cling to someone rich.”
Griffin didn’t reply.
“Seriously? You keep trashing others, calling Griffin’s mother a social climber, and stepping all over him. But then you turn around and scramble to do the exact same thing yourselves! Your skin must be made of steel!”
Mandy’s face instantly turned bright red, like a clown caught under a spotlight. She clenched her teeth. “That’s not true!”
“Oh, not true? So you’re saying you’re above that?” Hayley tilted her head. “If you think so highly of yourselves, then tell me What exactly do you have that makes others want to ally with you? A bunch of people who can’t fight, or supplies that are alreagh running out?”
Hearing that, Mandy wished she could crawl into a hole and disappear.
The humiliation was unbearable.
How could Hayley say that?
Mandy believed that even if the Cooks had nothing, they were still superior to ordinary people.
Their family was like fallen nobility. Even stripped of everything, they were still above others. Other bases should feel honored to ally with them!
“Why so quiet now?” Hayley said lightly “I love heating people argue their case Go on Say a few more things so I can prove you wrong.”
Mandy glared at Hayley, grinding her teeth. “Fine. You say we’re clinging to Hope Hase What about you? You’re clinging to trash like Griffin. That makes you even worse than us!”
Hearing that, Hayley laughed out loud. “No wonder Alex can’t stand your family. All you can think of is using a pretty face to snag a big shot, without even checking if she has halt a brain!”
Even Alex couldn’t listen anymore. “Captain Reid, just throw them all out Don’t waste time on these idiots.”

When Mandy heard the title “Captain Reid”, her heart skipped. “Who are you, exactly?”
“She’s the leader of Haylight Base,” Scarlett said as she walked out carrying a large bowl of fruit. “The supreme commander of the Haylight League and our boss, Hayley Reid!”→
