Chapter 308
The moment the man said that, everyone shot him furious looks.
But right now, no one had time to pick a fight with him.
All of them stared in despair at Jim Baldwin, who was still barely holding on. One by one, they burned through whatever abilities they had left, fighting with everything they had.
Even though they all knew it was hopeless.
What was worse than being killed outright was having to watch themselves die, fully aware, with no way out.
Just as Jim’s air barrier was about to collapse, a sharp whoosh cut through the air. A cross-shaped steel grappling hook tore through the air and slammed into the overturned car behind them.
Right after that, a loud, commanding voice rang out.
“Everyone, get down.”
They froze for a split second, then instantly dropped flat when they saw a taut, razor-sharp steel cable snap into place.
Whoosh!
Rows of zombies were sliced cleanly at the neck, heads dropping one after another.
The taller ones were cut across the shoulders, collarbones severed along with them. Shorter zombies were sliced straight through the middle of the head. The sharp wire dripped with brain matter as skulls were shaved flat.
The cable swept around them in a full circle, like a scythe cutting through wheat.
Not a single zombie was spared.
When the circle was complete, a menacing armored vehicle rolled into view.
Zombie corpses littered the ground. Every last zombie around the group in the center had fallen.
The sight was utterly shocking.
Jim and the others stood there, stunned.
They had never seen power like this. It was a straight-up steamroll!
“Can you pull our hook out?” a man’s voice called from inside the vehicle.
Jim snapped out of it first. He turned and looked at the cross-shaped steel hook embedded in their wrecked car Swallowing hard, he stepped forward and yanked it free.
“Thank you,” Jim said as he walked up to the armored vehicle and returned it, bowing his head in gratitude
“Our boss says you’re welcome. Let go,” Leonard told him.
As Jim released it, the vehicle’s retrieval system activated, and with a sharp whoosh, the modified steel cable reeled itselt back
Hearing the word “boss”, Jim couldn’t help glancing toward the back of the vehicle, but he couldn’t see anything
Leonard stepped on the gas again, and the armored vehicle headed deeper toward the mountains.
Jim hurried after them. “Are you going into the mountains? You can’t go in there!”
Leonard braked.

Jim caught up, breathing hard “The mountains are full of zombies!”
Leonard turned to look toward Hayley in the back. At that moment, the rear window rolled down, and a rough-looking man
leaned out.
