Chapter 317
“Jim!”
“Bridget, what’s wrong?”
“If you don’t kick Victor and Todd out today, then I’m leaving!” Bridget snarled, her face full of anger.
“Bridget! It’s a misunderstanding!” Sophie ran out right after her. “Nothing’s missing. The supplies are still there.”
“I don’t believe it! They definitely stole something and then put it back! They’re thieves!”
“Bridget, have you lost your mind?” Victor snapped. “George dies, and you go crazy. You argue with everyone, and you think everyone’s a thief. If something’s wrong with your head, go lie down and sleep somewhere else instead of making everyone miserable!”
“Victor, shut up. Just forget it,” someone tried to smooth things over.
“Forget it? Hell, no!” Victor shot back. “Bridget, don’t think we don’t know what you’re thinking. You believe George saved us once, so we all owe you forever. I’m telling you, that’s enough. Stop hanging it over our heads!”
Bridget exploded and rushed at him, swinging her fists. “You do owe me! If you’ve got the guts, give George back to me! Go to hell
“Enough!” Jim shouted.
Bridget turned to look at him, disbelief in her eyes. “You’re yelling at me, too? When George was alive, he treated you so well. Did you forget? He saw you as his own brother. He risked his life over and over to save you. He’s barely gone, and this is how you treat me?”
“Bridget…”
“Don’t say anything!” Bridget turned and ran upstairs, crying.
Everyone else fell silent. No one even went after her to comfort her.
“Sorry you had to see that. I’ll take you to some empty rooms to rest,” Jim said awkwardly after a moment, turning to Hayley and the others.
He led them upstairs.
