Chapter 345
A swarm of doctor, nurse, and patient zombies poured through the smashed doorway all at once.
The mutated zombie stretched out its two heads and immediately locked onto Hayley the far corner of the room.
With a loud crash, it shoved the zombies blocking its path aside.
Two legs and four arms hit the ground at the same time. It fixed its aim on Hayley and launched itself into the air.
Three yards. Two yards. One yard. Half a yard…
Just as the mutated zombie was about to grab her, Hayley sprang upward and slipped perfectly into the ventilation duct above
The ceiling was about ten feet off the ground. When the zombies below lost their living prey in an instant, they all lifted their heads, roaring up at the ceiling.
Hayley crawled forward inside the ventilation duct.
The system had been shut down for over a year, and the metal walls were coated in thick layers of dust.
The duct was extremely narrow. If there had been even one adult man among them, it would’ve been impossible to get throug
Thankfully, it was only children and women. They all had small frames.
The two children in front crawled silently with serious expressions, their little hands and feet moving quickly through the duc
When they passed the next vent opening, they could see a dense mass of zombies below through the slats.
“Don’t be scared. Just run, and the bad people won’t catch us,” the woman said softly behind them.
The two kids gathered their courage and scurried past, hugging the edge of the duct.
When it was the woman’s turn, she glanced down once, then hurried through as well.
After several passes overhead, the movement drew the attention of many zombies below. By the time Hayley reached that section, she saw a crowd of zombies staring straight up, roaring as they tracked her movement.
Pairs of gray-white eyes, stripped down to nothing but hunger, were locked on the metal panels above.
The moment Hayley appeared, four or five zombies below jumped eagerly howling as they tried to reach het.
Seeing that none of them could jump high enough, Hayley’s gaze stayed cold and sharp as she moved swiftly gast that root.
1 They crawled on, quickly leaving the room behind. Ahead, the narrow duct split into multiple branching paths
Hayley judged the direction. Their goal was to leave the main lobby, so she led them toward the emergency exit side
Just then, she felt the duct beneath her start to shake.
“Raarh. Kaarh. Raarh!”
Hayley turned her head and saw it
At the rear access opening of the duct, the mutated zombie was forcing its way inside it used all four itmibs, both heads squeezing up into the duct from below
Just as she thought. A sentient zombie.
This one really had intelligence
“Run!” Hayley shouted to the people ahead.

As she spoke, the mutated zombie’s tnassive body compressed unnaturally, forcing itself into the duct like some twisted creature. Its left head stretched far forward, while the second head lagged slightly behind.
With a sharp whoosh, it scuttled after Hayley like a monstrous spider, limbs scraping as it charged forward.
Hayley stayed right behind the woman.
“Faster! Faster! Move!”
