Chapter 352
The fruit tea was filled with watermelon, strawberries, lemon, and passion fruit
The watermelon was grown right inside their base. The strawberries were freeze-dried. The lermont sliced, and the passion fruit came from jars of passion fruit jam they had collected while recapturing
cities.
Ruby mixed the fruits with black tea leaves they had found earlier and topped off with ice cubes from the freezer, making a huge cup of tangy, icy fruit tea. One sip in, and Hayley felt relaxed from head to toe
Especially since this was the apocalypse.
The smaller bases under Haylight League didn’t worry about food anymore, but none of them were living like Hayley.
Most people were still stuck at the level of just eating enough, maybe eating a little better than before They had meat and vegetables, and they didn’t go hungry anymore. But who, in the middle of the apocalypse, could casually enjoy a jumbo cup of iced fruit tea?
Bases that hadn’t joined Haylight League were even worse off. Many of them couldn’t even meet basic needs.
Every day was about tightening their belts, scavenging for supplies, and trying to find something to eat.
You really couldn’t compare lives anymore.
“Holly, have some cake. I just made it for you,” Ruby said, bringing over a plate with a chilled ice cream
cake.
The base was made from crushed cookies, the middle layer was packed with thick fruit chunks, and the top was a smooth, tempting layer of ice cream.
“Aunt Ruby, I’m almost too full to eat anymore.”
“Have a bit more. I baked dinner rolls, peach pie, cream cheese danishes, meat pies, beef patties, and breakfast flatbreads. Sweet and savory. I remembered you don’t like apples, so I didn’t make anything with apples.”
Hearing how thoughtful Ruby was, a warm feeling washed over Hayley again.
In the whole world, besides Cynthia, Ruby was the only one who remembered her preferences this well.
“Aunt Ruby, sit for a bit,” Hayley said, pulling her over.
“I still need to bake more for you. No time to sit ”
“That’s enough already. We’ve got plenty,” Hayley said, making room.
She pulled Summer close on her left and Ruby on her right, with a whole pack of dogs curled around her feet. Wrapped in all that warmth, she felt completely at ease.

All that fighting out there was really just to protect the people she cared about
However, that peaceful moment didn’t last long.
Alex came rushing in to find Hayley, clearly in a hurry. Liam and Milo came with him
“Captain Reid, there’s something important we need to talk to you about!”
“What is it?” Hayley said, having her people open the door and let them in. 1
The moment Alex stepped into Hayley’s shelter, which looked like something out of a dream, he froze in
shock.
The compound was entirely pink, like something out of a fairy tale. Flower-lined paths stretched across the grounds, circling a small pavilion draped in sheer fabric. A swing set stood nearby, along with a pastel pink house. At first glance, it felt as though he had stepped into a storybook.
And everywhere you looked, vegetables were growing. Fruit trees were packed in so densely that it was dizzying. There were chicken and duck coops, a sheep pen, and even a fish pond. 1
Beyond the abundance of food production, the defenses were just as impressive.
