The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 354

Chapter 354

Hayley could tell at a glance that Alex was absolutely heartbroken.

She had basically snatched away the strongest ace from his previous life’s base With Ruby’s résumé, the moment Alex realized who she was, he was bound to lose his mind.

But there was nothing to be done. This was Ruby, after all.

All the world’s talent just kept falling into Hayley’s lap.

And not just Ruby. If she ran into anyone from the Ten Toughest People, she would grab them without hesitation.

After Alex finally sat down, he stayed gloomy for a while before opening his laptop. “Captain Reid, do you know Scott Fuller from Tomorrow Base?”

The moment Hayley heard the name Scott, her eyes lit up. “Scott Fuller?”

“I just found out that in the Eastern region, there’s another major base called Tomorrow Base,” Alex said.

He turned his laptop so Hayley could see.

On the screen was a full model of the Eastern region. Vast stretches of red covered the map, dotted with dozens of white points.

The red areas marked zombie zones. The deeper the red, the higher the zombie density.

Across the Eastern region, Aecraton, Brookville, and Crestford formed a rough triangle. Aecraton sat on the eastern coast and had the least red remaining. Large portions of it had already been cleared by Hayley.

Brookville and Crestford, on the other hand, were deep crimson, almost purple.

Just looking at the model was enough to make your scalp tingle.

And right in the center of Crestford was a single white point.

“That’s Tomorrow Base,” Alex-said, zooming in. “I’ve received confirmation that Tomorrow Base is also

carrying out city recapture missions.”

The white point expanded, gradually revealing a whole section of cleared territory.

“They’re pushing outward from the inside. They’ve already taken down an entire central district.”

When Hayley heard this, her eyes grew even brighter.

Scott’s reputation was on par with Milo’s and Alex’s.

He was a truly remarkable leader.

In Hayley’s memories from her previous life, Scott had followed the same strategy. He pushed outward

from the city center in the early years of the apocalypse, his expansion was incredibly aggress

Unfortunately, Tomorrow Base was wiped out in the fifth year of the apocalypse

When it fell, they still hadn’t broken out of the city because it really was that hard

Hayley had taken the approach of surrounding the city from the countryside. She had solid logistics backing every step forward. When things got too dangerous, she could pull back, hide for a while, and chew away at the problem slowly.

Scott’s strategy was the opposite. He fought outward from the city core. In the early years, before zombies had fully evolved, progress came more easily. City resources were abundant, and as long as they were willing to fight, they could keep gaining supplies.

But that momentum stopped by the third year.

First, zombies fully evolved, and they couldn’t beat them anymore. Second, huge amounts of food expired, creating massive supply gaps. Third, unlike Hayley, Scott couldn’t pause and ride out the storm. City zombies were attacking nonstop.

Under this irreversible spike in difficulty, Tomorrow Base held on for two more years before collapsing completely.
