Chapter 361

While the drought continued, Liam was stationed at Milky Way Base providing support.

On another supply drop day, as he watched the ample supplies Hayley had sent arrive right on schedule, he couldn’t help but think of what she had told him last year.

The next three years would be a continuous drought, with no harvests at all.

As cartons of instant noodles, dried meal packs, and bacon kept dropping from the sky, waves stirred in his chest.

Hayley was always a step ahead of everyone else.

If he hadn’t followed Hayley into the city back then, he would probably still be trapped in Base K1, spending every day worrying about how it could survive in a dead-end situation like this.

But now, with Hayley’s supplies raining down nonstop, he felt a shock he had never experienced before.

At that moment, Kit, the leader of Milky Way Base, came rushing over.

“Captain Caldwell! Great news!”

“What is it?”

“Captain Reid just took another district! Aecraton only has one mall left!”

Hearing that, Liam wished he could fly back to Hayley immediately.

They had only been apart for six months, and Hayley was already on the verge of completely taking

Aecraton.

That speed was insane.

“Captain Reid is incredible! Even in heavy snow, she’s been pushing forward every single day. She’s unbelievably strong! With her leadership, we’re definitely going to end the zombie crisis!” Kit praised enthusiastically, his eyes full of admiration.

Liam couldn’t help but smile. “That’s right!”

Just then, an urgent voice rang out inside the base.

“Captain Caldwell, Kit, something’s wrong! Another zombie tide is coming!”

At the same time, in the core area of Aecraton.

Hayley stood on the rooftop of a high-rise building. This was a position they had just secured.

“Boss, only the mall district is left,” Leonard reported.

Hayley nodded, looking down from above. The area around the mall was packed with zombies.

“How are things on Liam and Milo’s side?”

“All stable ”

Hayley was just about to completely take Aecraton.

Once Aecraton fell, human and zombie forces across the Eastern region would finally reach a balance point.

Survivors under the league could return to the city and get it running again. By then, even if Brookville and Crestford zombies finished evolving, humanity would have completed its own evolution, too.

They would have room to breathe. They would have strong logistics. Once cities were back in human hands, full-scale scientific development could begin again.

By then, even if zombies were strong, humans wouldn’t be weak.

And once humanity gained the initiative, zombie growth would never be able to keep up.

Almost there.

Hayley clenched her fist. The balance point between humans and zombies was close.

Just as she finished reviewing the zombie distribution ahead, Leonard’s expression suddenly darkened.

He always had an earpiece on. Alex constantly aggregated information from all three fronts and relayed

“Boss! Something’s wrong!”

“What happened?”

“Captain Caldwell is in trouble!” Leonard said.

Half an hour later, Hayley was back at their command post.

On Alex’s screen was footage of a massive zombie tide invasion.

“We don’t know what triggered it, but Brookville saw an extremely large zombie surge. Mutated zombies make up about half of it. The target is Milky Way Base, the one Liam is personally defending.”

“How’s Liam?”

20

“We’ve lost contact. Not just with him. We’ve lost contact with all of Milky Way Base.

Hearing that, Hayley stood up without hesitation. “I’m going to Milky Way Base.”

“Captain Reid, what about here? This is a critical moment. The zombies could break through our purge zone at any time. If they spread across the city, we’ll have to clear everything again!”

Hayley paused mid-step. “I’ll take ten people. Everyone else holds their position. Mobilize league members near Milky Way Base and send reinforcements immediately!”

There were still about 100 thousand zombies left in Aecraton. All of them were compressed into a single area The smaller the area got, the more manpower was needed to hold it.

Before, they only had to defend what they had already taken. Now, they had to hold the last remaining

pocket.

Hayley couldn’t spare many people.

But if something happened to Liam, she had to go.

At that moment, Milky Way Base had already been completely swallowed by the zombie tide. Only one small building in the central area was still fighting.

“How many people haven’t evacuated yet?”

“Thirty left!”
