The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 364

Chapter 364

-15 Bonus

When the zombies broke through the small building earlier, everyone had retreated to the basement in a desperate race for survival.

There were 140 people in the basement: 95 from Milky Way Base, and 45 from Liam’s team.

Everyone’s eyes were fixed on Liam, almost in reverence. They were all waiting for his command.

Liam pressed his lips together.

Derek handed him a bottle of water.

The first thing Liam said after being thirsty for so long was, “How much water do we have left?”

Derek’s face was smeared with grime and blood from the fighting. He licked his dry lips. “Just this one bottle.”

Hearing that, Liam set the bottle down. He didn’t drink it.

“Captain Caldwell, we still have two bottles of water here! And ten packs of instant noodles!” Kit stood up from the crowd and brought out all the supplies Milky Way Base had left.

The zombie tide had erupted too suddenly. No one had been prepared.

These few supplies had been carried by one resident who happened to have them on hand.

Liam had them brought over. Laid out in front of them were three bottles of water and ten packs of instant noodles.

But there were 140 people.

That amount wasn’t even enough for everyone to take a sip. They practically had no supplies left.

And outside, the zombies could break through the heavy metal door at any moment.

They were trapped here.

“Captain Caldwell, what should we do now?” Kit asked, his voice hushed.

Liam stayed silent, his mind racing as he assessed the situation.

Then, Derek spoke up. “Ms. Reid… She’ll definitely come to save us.”

When Liam heard that, the tension in his body eased, and a faint smile appeared on his face.

Even in the worst situation, just thinking of Hayley was enough to warm his heart. He firmly believed that if she knew he was in danger, she would come.

But still.

“We should never wait for someone else to save us,” Liam said, looking at everyone.

415 Bonus

Liam was never the type to wait passively. People like him believed that rescue was a bonus, not the only lifeline when facing death.

Your life should always be in your own hands. At any moment, you had to try to save yourself.

“But there’s no exit anymore,” Kit said, his eyes fixed on Liam.

Liam scanned the surroundings. He had been here for over half a year. He quickly mapped out every corner of the area in his mind. His gaze landed on the wall in front of him.

“If there’s no exit, we dig one ourselves!”

Even if they had to dig, they would dig their way out.

Fairytale Park Station.

Hayley arrived at the subway station with her team.

The station hadn’t been in operation for a year and a half. Wild grass, nearly waist-high, had grown over the arched entrance canopy. Dust and ash covered the ground.

It was desolate and ruined, yet still carried traces of modern civilization.
