Chapter 383
“Haylight League covers three cities: Aecraton, Brookville, and Crestford. We have 57 bases in total I’m the leader.

Monica’s clear eyes went wide as she stared at Hayley in disbelief.
A league of 57 bases? Did that meant the entire Eastern region had joined her league?
No way!
“Doesn’t your base have a radio?” Hayley asked with a smile.
Monica shook her head. “We don’t have power.”
“Our league is actively fighting zombies across all three cities. If you’re willing, I can bring your base in, too,” Hayley offered.
One more base meant one more point of resistance. Hayley was working on something big, and every base mattered.
Monica fell silent, thinking it over.
Just then, Derek’s voice rang out. “Boss, food’s ready. You eating?”
Monica turned her head and saw the lid come off a massive pot.
Inside was a huge pot of rice. Fragrant rice on the bottom, piled high with all kinds of toppings. There were kale, eggplant, cauliflower, eggs, and meat.
Derek scooped a heaping plate and handed it to Hayley.
Up close, Monica could clearly smell the rice and see the real vegetables on top.
It had been a year and a half since the apocalypse began. How was it even possible to still eat vegetables and such fresh rice?
“How do you still have fresh food?” Monica asked, unable to hide her shock.
“We grow it ourselves.”
“Yeah. We eat food grown by our boss every day,” Derek said proudly. “It’s super fresh.”
Hayley smiled, took the plate, and held it out to Monica. “Have some.”
Monica stared at the full plate in front of her, shock churning in her chest.
It wasn’t like they hadn’t tried growing food. Everyone had planted crops on the mall rooftop, but the long drought made it impossible to grow anything. Her water–element gift was only enough for daily use by the base. There was no extra water for farming.
Yet now, Hayley was casually offering food this fresh.
Rice, vegetables, meat…
Just how powerful were they?
“No. I need to head back up,” Monica said, refusing the food.

She needed time to think and seriously weigh everything.
Hayley didn’t stop Monica. After Monica went upstairs, Hayley told Derek and the others to deliver 100 pounds of rice and 10 cases of instant noodles once they finished eating.
On the third floor…
After returning from Hayley’s group, Monica sank deep into thought.
Downstairs, Haylight League was eating, but Evergreen Base wasn’t.
The mall’s supplies were no longer enough to support three full meals a day. They only had one and a half meals daily. One proper meal during the day, and a little snack at night.
