Chapter 384
Monica heard the residents talking outside her room and fell into deep thought again.
Could Haylight League really be trusted? If they followed Haylight League, would they really be able to eat properly, too?
Just then, Derek came up to the third floor with a few people, carrying supplies.
When the others saw what they brought, their eyes went wide again.
“It’s rice!”
“And instant noodles!”
“Mom, I really wanna eat instant noodles!”
“Captain Fletcher, our boss asked us to deliver these to you,” Derek called into the room. “Consider it compensation.”
Monica came out when she heard his voice. By the time she stepped outside, Derek and the others had already left, leaving a pile of supplies behind.
This was Hayley’s compensation for killing Simon.
Hayley didn’t actually have to give anything. Her strength alone was enough to silence them.
But since relations weren’t openly hostile and she still had plenty of supplies, she was willing to show some basic decency.
She was trading supplies for a life.
At least she had her principles.
Monica thought for three seconds. “Take it. Let everyone eat a proper meal.”
The moment she said that, the crowd nearly exploded with joy.
Some people were a disaster while alive, but after death, they could still create value for everyone else.
The people downstairs had eliminated a menace and even sent them a feast.
Time to eat!
Everyone rushed forward, grabbing instant noodles and firing up pots to cook them.
Just as the noodles finished cooking, a man came down from the rooftop.
“Why do you have noodles to eat?”
“Danny, come eat!” someone called out cheerfully.
Danny froze.
Eat what?
“These were sent by the people downstairs as compensation for Simon.”
Danny’s eyes went wide.

What the hell? Simon’s compensation meal?!
Danny snapped, fury burning in him. He stormed forward and flipped the table with a loud crash.
After flipping it, he grabbed a knife and charged downstairs to find Hayley, that heartless monster.
“Danny!”
“Danny…!”
“Danny, what are you doing!”
“Ms. Fletcher, something’s wrong!”
Inside her room, Monica had been calculating how trustworthy Hayley was and what risks her own base faced.
Evergreen Base was already at the end of its rope. Their daily supplies mostly depended on Danny leading small
teams out to scavenge.
Everything within 300 yards had already been stripped clean. Beyond that lay far more dangerous zombie zones. Life was getting harder by the day.
They had nothing left to lose except their people.
If they could follow Hayley’s group…
Just then, Monica heard the shouts outside.
