Chapter 385
Monica swallowed hard. “Captain Reid, I’ll seriously think about what you said. Please, let him go.
Hayley let out a soft sigh. She looked down at Danny, whose joints had been dislocated, and lifted her foot “has this once.”
“I’ll kill you…!” Danny yelled.
“Shut up!” Monica cut him off sharply.
She waved her hand, signaling her people to come forward and carry Danny away. They dragged Danny upstairs
After they left, Liam gave that direction a long, meaningful look. “We need to be extra careful tonight.” “Yeah.”
Hayley had killed Simon for everyone’s sake.
Liam was a kind man, but he was also very clear about where he stood.
Simon blocking them today was an act of hostility. To Liam, enemies were enemies, and he never went soft on them.
So he didn’t think Hayley had gone too far.
Hayley was decisive and ruthless when it mattered, but she never killed indiscriminately. With minor conflicts, she usually just taught people a lesson. She rarely lost her temper without reason.
He genuinely approved of people like her. Strong, but with principles.
A strong person with boundaries was a blessing to the weak. A strong person without boundaries was everyone’s nightmare.
Thankfully, Hayley was the former.
“Alex just sent a reply,” Liam said to Hayley, pulling his gaze back.
“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s hear it.”
Hayley turned and walked back.
“Captain Reid, you’re inside Brookville. We can’t break through directly to extract you.
“The computer simulation says the best option is tomorrow during the day. Milo will lead his team to the north and use explosives to draw the city’s zombies away.
“At 11:30 a.m., you’ll get a window when zombie density is at its lowest. If you can break out before noon, Milo can meet you perfectly at Fairytale Park Station. If you miss that window, you’ll pull the zombie tide back toward yourselves.
“You have to move fast.”
Alex sent the full plan to Hayley over the radio.
After listening, Hayley went silent, thinking it through.
Five minutes later, she replied, “Alright.”
From Evergreen Mall back to Fairytale Park Station, the surface distance was about two miles
Under normal conditions, two miles would take an average person around 15 minutes to run.
Last time, when everyone pushed to their limit, it took them 18 minutes.
But that run had been through underground tunnels, straight and unobstructed. This time, it was above ground. In practice, it would be closer to 2.5 tniles, meaning it would take longer.
That gave them about 30 minutes total. Not a single minute could be wasted.
Once the plan with Alex was finalized, Hayley gathered everyone again to discuss their route.
They had a lot of seniors and children. Hayley arranged for each able–bodied man to carry one child. The elderly would be supported by the men as well.
This was when men needed to step up and give more. As for the women, the goal was not to slow anyone down and to support each other.
