The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 386

Chapter 386

At this moment, on the third floor

Danny, I accepted the supplies. Simon is dead, and he’s not coming back. That’s the end of it. Stop dwelling or it Monica said.

Stop dwelling on it? That was my brother!Danny roared.

Before the apocalypse, Simon had never been a good person. He ran around with a pack of lowlifes, harassed people, picked fights, and relied on his family’s money to cause endless trouble.

His parents had been sent to the hospital more than once because of him, and he never cared.

But when it came to his brother, Danny, he was different.

Their parents left the family business to Danny. Simon never tried to fight Danny for it.

Instead, Simon always told Danny that as long as Danny kept giving him money, he was fine relying on Danny forever.

That rotten Simon gave his only shred of familial affection to his one and only brother.

So what?Monica snapped, turning to face Danny.

Does that mean Simon was innocent?

If he hadn’t acted on his own and blocked the first floor without reporting to me, none of this would’ve happened! Don’t think I didn’t know what he was really after. He wanted to watch zombies tear survivors apart!

Every time survivors tried to join the base, he would delay telling me on purpose. He’d toy with them by himself, watch them get eaten alive, and laugh about it. He deserved what happened to him today!

Monica!

Crash!

Danny flipped the table in a rage.

Monica stood up and faced him, her pale neck held straight.

I told you already. I accepted the supplies. I’ll take responsibility for this. If you want revenge, don’t go after Captain Reid. Come for me. Kill me and avenge your brother!

You really think I wouldn’t dare kill you?

Go ahead. Do it!

Blinded by rage, Danny raised his hand and swung at Monica, the rush of air sending her bangs flying.

However, his palm stopped less than an inch from her face.

His hand trembled. In fact, his whole body trembled.

Smack!

Danny turned that slap onto himself. A clear handprint instantly bloomed on his left cheek.

I’m so damn stupid for loving you! I’m an idiot!

147

Smack. Smack. Smack!

He slapped himself several more times, cursing himself with every hit.

Danny..Monica began.

Get lost! I’m done loving you,Danny snarled, shoving her aside. Redeyed, he stormed out of the room at ar toward the rooftop.

Monica stayed where she was. She didn’t chase after him.

Later, Freddie walked in.

Ms. Fletcher, Danny ran out. Aren’t you going after him?

Monica watched Danny’s figure disappear into the distance and shook her head gently. No.

Danny wouldn’t cause trouble anymore.

Because today, she had won again.
