Chapter 415

The zombie’s mouth was enormous.

Ths.

Its lips were torn apart, its jaw stretched to its absolute limit, its throat pulled wide open. That black, gaping maw was savage enough to bite Hayley’s head off in a single snap.

“Raarh!”

Hayley’s hand moved toward the long blade on her back.

A flash of steel crossed her vision. The big-mouthed zombie’s head flew off in one clean strike.

Hayley hadn’t killed it.

She followed the silver-white gleam of the blade and met a pair of calm, gentle eyes.

Scott still wore that soft, pleasant expression. The gentler he looked, the more viciously he killed.

“Raarh!”

Another eight or so zombies surged forward.

They burst out of the brush, baring claws and fangs. Under the moonlight, their rotting, death-gray faces looked even more horrifying.

Their bodies stank of decay, and they had their arms missing, legs broken, bellies split open, and mouths half rotted away.

Like monsters clawing out of fresh graves, they howled and charged at the living, eyes glowing as they rushed in.

Slash!

Slash!

Slash!

Blade after blade flashed, brutal and precise, chopping down the zombies one after another.

Scott didn’t even give Hayley a chance to move. He cut down every zombie that lunged at them.

But something felt wrong to him.

There were more zombies than he had anticipated.

After he finished off one group, an even larger mass surged forward from ahead.

At that moment, Sawyer’s voice came from behind him. “Boss! Something’s wrong. There are more and more zombies!” When Scott heard it, his gentle expression started to crack. Of course, he could see it.

More and more were coming. At least 1,000.

This was far beyond what he had planned for.

Scott silently cursed Sawyer for his lousy way of handling things.

All he wanted was to draw in a small wave of zombies, enough to kill off that annoying follower at Hayley’s side. How did it turn into this many?

Seeing that they could no longer break through the front, Scott stopped and regrouped his people.

“There are many zombies. Are we not charging anymore?” Hayley asked.

“Don’t be scared. I told you I’d protect you.”

Hayley thought for a moment, then smiled and gave him a thumbs-up. “Good luck. I’m rooting for you.”

After saying that, she openly slipped behind Scott and waited for him to kill the zombies.

Scott was speechless.

He turned and looked at Hayley. Her eyes were curved with a sly smile, full of mischief.

The corner of his mouth lifted slightly. “Fine. Stay behind me. Watch closely.”

“Raarh!”

“Raarh!”

Once they stopped moving, zombie tides surged in from all directions.

Scott held his blade in one hand and led everyone in a head-on slaughter against the horde.

In the pitch-black night, all kinds of elemental orbs exploded. Large numbers of zombies felì.

At the same time, people from his base began to fall one after another.

Hayley watched the scene with cold detachment.

She had never owed Scott anything. Sending Milo to support them had been real help. Sending the helicopter to rescue them put Scott deeply in her debt.
