Chapter 426
A miner zombie wearing a hard hat moved incredibly fast. It launched itself off the ground and flew straight at Hayley’s team.
Hayley was running at the back.
She wasn’t in a hurry at all. She looked like she was taking a casual stroll, calmly glancing around at the surroundings.
Right then, a column of water shot past above her head, piercing straight through the zombie lunging from
behind her.
At the same time, a large hand grabbed her by the shoulder.
“Get inside, now!”
Raymond Trivett shoved Hayley hard with visible annoyance, forcing her inside.
Hayley was speechless.
The moment she was inside, Raymond slammed the heavy metal door shut.
Boom!
The sound of zombies pounding on the iron door immediately rang out from outside.
Clang, clang…
Thud, thud, thud…!
Screech…
The cave entrance was completely blocked by zombies.
The pounding, scraping, and clawing noises came through the metal door nonstop.
Raymond coldly dropped a thick metal bolt into place. Behind him, others quickly stuffed cotton padding around the doorframe to block the noise.
Only when the sounds outside were muffled down to nothing but distant zombie groans did everyone finally breathe out in relief.
But then, someone shouted in frustration, “Damn it, Raymond. The zombies from the mountaintop got drawn down here. All our work is ruined again!”
As soon as those words fell, everyone turned to look at Hayley and her group.
Their gazes were direct. The hatred in their eyes couldn’t have been clearer.
These people had worked incredibly hard to clear most of the zombies in this area without alerting the massive
horde at the top of the mo?
And now, this group showed up and destroyed everything.
“Enough. Everyone, go take care of other tasks. We’ll deal with the zombies later,” Raymond said at last, staring at Hayley’s group.
His eyes swept over them before he spoke.
“No way! The zombie groups outside were cleared at the cost of many lives. We were only a few days away from killing the last ones and getting out. Now, the zombies have blocked us in again. How are we supposed to leave?” a man in his thirties shouted angrily. “They have to take responsibility for this!”
Just then, a voice came from deep inside the cave.
“Boss, bad news! Vanessa’s going into labor!”
“What?
wife’s giving birth?”
The
o had just been shouting froze for a split second. His anger instantly turned into panic as he spun sprinted deeper into the cave.
