Chapter 437

“Mom, open the door!” Griffin pounded hard oh it, trying to call the old woman back.

But after her voice faded, there was nothing outside.

“Move. I’ll do it,” Hayley said, stepping back two paces.

Griffin immediately moved aside.

Bang!

Hayley drove her foot straight into the lock. The old iron door caved in, the lock core exposed.

Bang, bang, bang!

Three brutal kicks in a row, then crack.

The door flew open.

Griffin gave Hayley a thumbs-up.

Captain Gorgeous was an absolute beast. When violence worked, she never wasted words.

Hayley sheyed the door outward.

The next second, both she and Griffin froze.

What appeared in front of them was an identical room.

A spotless old apartment. On the square wooden table sat two opened cans of canned peaches, mold blooming inside.

Griffin stood behind Hayley. He turned and looked back.

Behind him, it was the same scene. It was like staring into a mirror. Every object was placed in perfect symmetry.

“How is this possible?” he muttered.

Hayley closed her eyes.

“She’s a mutant mental-variant Gifted. We’re inside her core domain.”

Back in her previous life, there had been a widely accepted classification of gifts

Gifts manifested based on physical constitution, and many were interconnected

People who loved running and had powerful leg muscles often developed speed enhancement

Those with strong upper bodies tended toward strength enhancement

Rarer elemental mutants were linked to sensitivity toward metal, wood, water, fire, and earth

In the apocalypse, mutation resonated with these elements differently

For example, the Es, st survivor Hayley ever recruited, Anthony had been a botanist He developed wood element abilities

Leonard’s Dody type leaned toward balame and calm, aligning with water element trails

Mult element Cafted were sensitive to more than one element

Thomas, hot tempered and a former underground fighter, evolved toward tire and metal elements

Then, there were derivative abilities

Liar possessed lightning, ice, and light variants.

Light itself was a mutation of lightning Lightning strikes created intense flashes, so those abilities were linked. At a higher tier was Scott, a memal-variant with precognition and time-control-like abilities. A triple-Gifted.

All of these ultimately traced back to the most mysterious category of all.

Mental-variant Gifts.

They could spawn endless mutations shaped by desire, trauma, and obsession.

Sienna was the perfect example. Her mental state had warped her gift into something even Hayley had never seen before.

What they were seeing now felt the same.

A warped mental-variant domain.

They were standing inside the territory of an extremely powerful mental-variant Gifted.

“So how do we get out?” Griffin asked.

“We have to find her. She’s the core. Only dealing with the source will break it,” Hayley said.
