Chapter 459
The view beneath Hayley grew wider and emptier by the minute.
Human settlements thinned out, fading into nothing.
Zombie-packed cities were gradually replaced by endless grasslands.
After several hours in the air, Hayley finally spotted a massive structure rising from the plains. It looked like a gigantic dome bunker planted right in the middle of the prairie.
It was far larger than anything meant for surface living.
The curved roof doubled as a helicopter pad, wide enough to land ten helicopters at once. The dome itself was built from a special reinforced material, solid and nearly indestructible.
There were entrances on all four sides, north, south, east, and west.
In an emergency, all the doors could open at once, allowing the entire structure to evacuate rapidly like water draining through a valve.
“That’s it,” Liam said, staring ahead.
The helicopter began its descent.
On the vast grassland below, a group of people was sprinting for their lives, with about five zombies chasing the relentlessly.
The plains were open and empty. Zombies would be spotted easily, with nowhere to hide.
But when humans were targeted, there was no place to run.
“I can’t run anymore!”
A young woman stumbled, her legs giving out as she collapsed onto the ground. The hoarse growl of a zombie echoed behind her.
Without hesitation, she grabbed the girl running beside her and shoved her backward.
“Aaaah!”
“Raarh!”
The leading zombie lunged forward, crashing into the girl and clamping its bloody jaws around her pale neck
In an instant, a massive chunk was torn away. Muscle, blood vessels, and a piece of dark red tissue were ripped open and exposed

“Nora! Nora!”
“Ugh… Gideon…”
She clutched his jacket. Each attempt to speak forced air through her torn windpipe. Before she could finish a word, blood poured from her mouth.
Gideon pressed his hand against her neck and ran forward with her in his arms.
“Don’t be scared. We’re almost there. That’s the bunker ahead. We’ll be saved. I promise!”
The group pushed themselves harder, sprinting toward the bunker that was now clearly visible. But when they reached it, their hope shattered.
The heavy doors were sealed tight.

Behind them, the zombies, driven mad by the scent of blood, surged forward faster.
