Chapter 460
A muffled gunshot cracked overhead.
Then, immediately after.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Several shots rang out in rapid succession. Not a single round missed.
The five zombies chasing Gideon’s group dropped instantly.
Every single one of them was taken down with a clean headshot. Thumb-sized bullet holes bloomed in their foreheads, fresh red blood pouring out.
The terrifying gray-white eyes finally lost their hunger and focus, turning dull and lifeless.
They were dead for real.
The survivors stared up in shock, barely processing that they were still alive, their eyes fixed on the helicopters hovering above.
Men rappelled down one after another. Last to jump was a young woman with a ponytail. They stood above the bunker entrance, looking down at the group below.
“Hey,” the girl said, the only woman among them. “You Ark One residents?”
“Yes, we are!” one man answered quickly.
Just then, a sharp scream cut through the air.
“Aaah! Gideon, you idiot! Your sister’s already turning into a zombie! Why did you bring her back here?” Penelope screamed, her voice shrill with panic.
Only then did everyone realize Gideon had carried Nora all the way back.
His hand was pressed tightly against her neck. Blood soaked his fingers and spread across his chest.
He looked up and glared at Penelope.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” she snapped, hiding behind two men. “It was chaos back there. I reacted on instinct! I didn’t mean it! And Nora’s about to turn! How can you keep her here? Are you trying to drag all of us down with you!”
Her votre rose, and the crowd that had been sympathizing with Gideon began stepping back
“Gideon, throw her out now!”
“No’ Kill her! She’ll turn any second!”
“You know how dangerous zombies are She’ll infect everyone!”
“We barely escaped the bunker last night because someone got infected and hid it. Do you want that to happen 141 1 *

“Kill her!”
“Kill her now!”
Amid the angry shouts, the girl in Gideon’s arms convulsed and spat out a mouthful of dark blood. She struggl to open her eyes. Her black pupils were slowly turning gray.
“Ugh… Gideon… It hurts…”
“Nora… Nora, don’t talk. We’ll find Professor Stone. He’ll know what to do. He has to,” Gideon said
“Even if Professor Stone could help, he wouldn’t save trash like your sister!” Penelope snapped.
The instant she spoke, Gideon shot her a look sharp enough to cut.
But Penelope straightened up, clearly convinced she had leverage.
“Gideon, just kill her! When I get back, I’ll have my dad ask Professor Stone for an evolution serum for you. You sister dying for me should be an honor!”
“Shut up!”
Gideon tightened his grip around Nora and walked forward step by step.
The people in front of him backed away fast, no one daring to block his path.
