Chapter 472
By the time Mason finished getting dressed, Hayley’s group had already cleared the room of zombies.
The corpses scattered everywhere made Mason’s legs go weak.
He hurried toward Hayley. “You have to protect me! Escort me somewhere safe. Once I’m safe, I’ll promote all o you!”
Hayley rolled her eyes and kicked him without even turning around.
Mason went flying, landing flat on his back. Furious, he started shouting, “How dare you kick me! Don’t you wa to live in this base anymore?”
Gideon and the others caught up and quickly explained, “They’re not from our base. They’re from Base K1. They’re here to support us.”
Mason fell silent at that. His eyes darted around as he thought fast.
Watching Hayley and her team stride ahead, he rushed to follow.
“Sorry about that. I didn’t know you weren’t from Ark One. Let me properly introduce myself. I’m Mason Robbin: the Level Two manager. Let’s be friends. When this is over, I’ll buy you all a meal.”
At that moment, the main door to Mason’s room behind them opened.
It was the woman he had been with. After getting dressed, she got up and went straight to the door to see what was happening outside.
“Close it!” Hayley shouted the instant she saw the woman.
Too late.
She pressed the handle down, and the moment the lock disengaged, a massive force slammed in from outside.
“Raarh!”
A zombie lunged in, pinning the woman to the ground and biting straight into her nose.
“Raarh! Raarh!”
“Raarh! Raarh!”
“Raarh!”
In the next second, a flood of zombies surged in, pouring through the opening like a tide.
“Run!”
Hayley didn’t waste another word and bolted forward
Ahead of them was the last room.
Run!
Everyone sprinted as zombies chased them down.
Gideon and the others grabbed each other’s hands and struggled to keep up.
It leapt high. Under the harsh white nights, it wou
running at the very back.
“Raarh!”
At the critical moment, the boyfriend suddenly let go. He abandoned his girlfriend and ran for his life.
“Kevin!” Lydia Peay screamed.
The zombie was already right behind her.
“Raarh!”
Just as Lydia thought she was done for, another chair leg smashed into the zombie’s face.
Bang!
“Gideon!” Lydia stared in shock at Gideon swinging the chair leg.
“Run!”
Gideon grabbed her, pulled Shana along, and sprinted forward as fast as he could.
Ding! [S-level clearance verified.]
Up front, Hayley’s group had already opened the final door.
By sheer luck, there were no zombies inside the last room.
