The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 477

Chapter 477

Liam and his people, of course, fully understood Hayley’s actions.

Whether the others understood or not didn’t really matter.

No one dared say a word.

Hayley headed straight for the eastern gate, stripping the vending machines along the way without breaking stride.

When they reached a corner, large swaths of blood came into view.

On the walls. On the floor. On the office doors. Long streaks of dragged and running blood stood out starkly before

them.

They heard the wet, grinding sounds of chewing.

Standing at the corner, they saw it.

At the end of the hallway, a group of zombies was piled on a person, tearing and biting greedily.

One zombie clutching a human head sensed the presence of living people behind it. It dropped the head and turned around.

“Raarh!”

It’s mouth gaped open, and an eyeball it hadn’t finished swallowing plopped out onto the floor.

Like spotting an all-you-can-eat buffet, it abandoned the shared meal and charged at Hayley’s group with a hoarse roar.

The instant it moved, all the other zombies stood up, too. They surged forward together, howling, scrambling, and crawling.

Even the person who had been their food twitched once the zombies left him. His half-eaten body jerked, his neck snapped upright, and he climbed to his feet, joining the horde.

All of them rushed forward in wild excitement.

Hayley exchanged a glance with the people beside her.

Everyone pulled back out of the hallway.

Derek and the others moved fast, each grabbing steel wire and stringing a dense wire net across the corridor

entrance.

“Raarh!”

Slice!

The first wave of zombies rushing in at full speed was instantly shredded into pieces. Behind them, more zombies kept pushing forward, shoving the ones ahead, lining up to die.

It didn’t take long before the entire corridor in front of them was cleared.

Once this group was dealt with, they would reach Level Three.

At the same time, on the other end of the communicator…

eliminated, shock crept into their eyes again.

“Base K1’s combat efficiency really is impressive.”

“They cut their way from Level One to Three without any real pause.”

“Looks like they’ve seen their share of hell.”

“The outside world is far more dangerous than here. If Base K1 has survived this long, their strength can’t be underestimated.”

They analyzed the situation quietly.

Constant, however, spoke up. “Do none of them have gifts?”

Up to now, they had only seen Liam use a lightning-type gift once, and the woman traveling with him use an inventory-variant gift to pull away the vending machines on Level 3.

Aside from that, they hadn’t seen a single gift used in combat.

Only then did everyone realize it.

Hayley’s group had fought their way to Level 3 without relying on gifts at all.
