The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 489

Chapter 489

Don’t bother with that idiot.

Hayley waved it off. She had zero interest in Nathaniel, anyway.

When Liam saw that, his lips curved into a faint smile.

After eating at Samuel’s place, Hayley went back to her office and continued reviewing the base’s developmen

progress.

Alex had really put in the work these past couple of days and produced ten separate development reports.

Hayley read through them one by one.

One proposal in Alex’s plan stood out. A powered armor production project.

Our engineers designed this,Alex said, handing her a thick stack of blueprints. I think it’s solid. They’ve already built a prototype. You can go take a look.

Hayley flipped through the plans. Let’s go now.

Can’t you just sit here and have them bring it over?Alex sighed, fully channeling his dominantCEO energy. We don’t even have a car.

Transportation really was inconvenient, and he had no desire to go out.

Don’t you have legs?Hayley kicked him straight out the door.

She hopped onto a little electric scooter, tied a rope to it, and made Alex jog behind her while holding on.

Alex was exasperated.

Hayley cruised through Aecraton’s orderly, spotless streets on the scooter. After about ten minutes, Alex was gasping for air when they finally reached their destination.

In the middle of a plaza stood a modified vehicle that looked like a massive combine harvester.

A group of engineers surrounded it, busy tuning its performance.

When they saw Hayley, they immediately stopped and waved.

Ms. Reid!

Ms. Reid, this is our latest project!

They were the same group Hayley had taken in when she rescued Liam and Kit back then.

There were quite a few engineers among them. Over this period, they had developed a zombie harvesting vehicle.

We used agricultural harvesters as a reference,Kit explained.

We enlarged the gears and blades. Once it’s running, it can shred zombie bodies completely, then eject the

remains out the back.

This is the urban version. To handle dense zombie populations, we raised the chassis. Combined with the high- speed grinder, there’s no risk of jamming from corpses. All materials are new composites. They’re extremely durable and hard for zombies to damage.

In the future, you can use this harvester to clear zombies from city roads.1

Hayley listened, clearly pleased.

Human technology was finally starting to show its strength. All the investment she had poured into research was paying off.

Hayley climbed up onto the harvester herself to test it.

Once she powered it on, the massive modified machine roared to life. The front intake spun violently, sharp blades and gears flashing with a cold sheen.

Kit tossed a large pig leg bone into the intake.
