Chapter 527
“You just need to grow your own strength,” Hayley said.
“Got it!”
After recruiting her first contacts, Hayley straightened up, clearly satisfied.
She glanced at what they were eating, then pulled out wrapped sandwiches, hard–boiled eggs, and cups of instant noodles from her inventory.
“Don’t eat that stuff anymore. Eat this.”
The boy’s eyes lit up again the moment he saw it. So much good food, and all for them!
“Do you have anywhere to store supplies?” Hayley asked.
Max and Ryan exchanged a look.
“Security’s tight,” Ryan said. “Almost nothing can be taken out. We can only stash things at the trash pit.”
Hayley thought for a moment, then pulled out a large bundle of seasoning packets.
“Keep these. Use them to bring people over to your side.”
Before the apocalypse, seasoning packets were junk food trash. After the apocalypse, they were treasure. They were high–fat, high–salt, filling, and energizing.
These people had been licking grease off the floor earlier. That alone said everything about how bland their lives
were.
If Max handed out seasoning packets, people would follow him without hesitation.
Other supplies were easy to detect and hard to hide. The trash pit couldn’t store much. But seasoning packets were small, easy to hide, and incredibly valuable.
After thinking it through, Hayley handed them over.
Max and Ryan stared at the pile of packets in disbelief.
In the apocalypse, this stuff was basically gold! And here she was, just giving it to them.
How rich did you have to be to do that?
“We’ll work hard, miss,” Max said nervously. “You don’t need to give us so much. This is too valuable.”
Ryan was even more hesitant.
Food like this was something only people above Level Three ever touched. Regular people didn’t get this, ever.
Hayley smiled faintly. “Do your job well. I’ll come back. If you do well, what I give you next time will be a thousand times better than this.”
Max and Ryan both sucked in a sharp breath.
A thousand times better?
What kind of things did she really have? And who exactly was she?

By the time they recovered from the shock, Hayley was already gone.
After she disappeared, Ryan finally exhaled. “Son, we might’ve met someone incredible.”
“I know,” Max said firmly. “She saved you. I owe her my life!”
Ryan smiled, then looked down at the blood–stained plastic bag still in his hand, hesitating. He was about to keep eating it.
Max grabbed it immediately and tossed it into the trash pit.
“Dad, I won’t ever let you eat stuff like that again.”
“Hey…”
