Chapter 53
Right then, tires screeched, kicking up a storm of fallen leaves.
To everyone’s shock, the most advanced armored vehicle they had ever seen skidded to a stop right in front of them.
As the dust and leaves settled, the door swung open, and a girl in combat gear jumped out.
Her long black hair was tied up in a high ponytail sharp and stylish. Her fair skin was flushed just enough to bring out her striking features, and with that fitted uniform showing off her tall, commanding frame, she looked both gorgeous and fierce.
She looked beautiful and badass-almost unreal.
She didn’t waste a second. Striding straight into their midst, she dropped to one knee and grabbed the chin of the man in front of her.
Leonard froze in complete shock, unable to move as she studied his face closely.
The more Hayley rubbed her eyes, the brighter they got. The more she looked, the more thrilled she became. She tightened her grip on his chin, excitement blazing in her voice.
“Leonard!”
“Yeah, it’s me.”
Pinned by her hand, Leonard suddenly couldn’t bring himself to meet her eyes. Maybe it was because her smile burned too brightly, or maybe her touch was just too intense.
Around them, the other soldiers were left gaping jaws practically on the floor.
What the hell was happening?
“Alright, come on in!” Hayley swung her arm wide, motioning them toward the gate as if it were nothing.
The soldiers nearly lost their footing again, this time from sheer disbelief.
Every single one of them turned toward Leonard. Their expressions were anything but subtle.
Apparently, good looks did come in handy.
