Chapter 536
The evidence Ark Three laid out hit the table, one piece after another.
Clear lab reports showing no issues on their research floor. Surveillance footage from inside and outside the gates.
No one had entered or left the base except the visitors sitting right there.
Every thread pointed straight at them.
So much so that even they felt cornered by it.
“This isn’t possible,” someone from Ark Two snapped, standing up first.
“We had no motive and no opportunity.
“From the moment we landed, we stayed in the rooms your people assigned us. We followed your schedule the entire time. Every single one of us is accounted for. You can track us minute by minute.
“There’s no way we poisoned your base. You can accuse anyone, but you can’t pin this on us.‘
Nathaniel lifted his head slowly. “So what you’re saying is, if it wasn’t you, then it must’ve been Ark One?”
The Ark Two representative froze. He immediately realized he had misspoken.
Right now, Nathaniel was closer to an ally than an enemy. This wasn’t the time to burn bridges.
The representative’s gaze slid to Hayley. He suddenly said, “Wait. That woman next to you. She’s the one who came to our base last time, right? The one with the dogs?”
Nathaniel tilted his head slightly. “Yes.”
“I remember you saying she’s not from Ark One. Just a friend you brought along?”
“Correct,” Nathaniel replied. “She’s from Base K1.”
Base K1.
The moment those words landed, everyone at the table looked at Hayley.
So she was from the renowned Base K1.
The man’s eyes lit up.
“I trust Ark One wouldn’t pull something like this,” he said quickly. “But this K1 woman is extremely suspicious. After we settled in, you took her all over Ark Three, didn’t you?”
Nathaniel’s expression turned serious.
But the man pressed, “Think about it. The three Ark bases are tied together. The second she shows up, zombies break out. If it’s not her, then who? I’ll believe you, but I don’t trust her. Base K1 is definitely fishy.”
Nathaniel went quiet. Behind the mask, his brows drew together.
Then, a foot slammed down on the table.
“The hell you just said?” Hayley snapped.
She leaned forward, eyes sharp.

“You really think you’re clever, huh? Pointing fingers like that. You’re saying the outbreak started the second I showed up. Funny thing is, you showed up too. Or what, you don’t count? You above basic math now?
“I knew something was off about you. Turns out whatever’s sitting on your neck isn’t a brain. It’s a damn tumor.
“Listen to yourself! That logic makes zero sense. You think I’d poison a place while standing right in it? What do you take me for, an utter moron?”
The Ark Two man nearly choked on his breath.
How could someone sitting at this table talk like that? Everyone here was supposed to be…respectable.
