Chapter 584

A gray, twisted zombie hand forced its way through the crack in the door.

Snap!

The zombie had grabbed inside.

“Mr. Ortega!” Sydney’s face went pale. She froze for half a second, then rushed forward with the baseball bat, trying to smash the hand away.

And then, everything got worse at once.

Crash!

The glass behind them shattered completely.

A massive wave of zombies surged forward, slamming into the already collapsing pile of desks and chairs.

Marvin and the others, who had been bracing with all their strength, were shoved backward nearly four inches.

The barricade scraped across the floor under the force.

More zombie hands pushed through. More heads forced their way into the classroom.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

At the back door, the zombie claw kept pulling at the opening. Each time it almost widened the gap, other zombies slammed into the door again, knocking it partly shut.

But zombies didn’t feel fear.

It dug its arm deeper inside. Its elbow got through, then the shoulder, then it forced its head into the room.

Right then, everyone heard a loud rumble.

The vehicle had arrived.

The moment it stopped outside the window, Hayley shoved the window open and jumped down, still holding the pressure cooker.

She cleared the zombies that followed the vehicle first.

“Get ready to move!” Hayley shouted after clearing that side.

Marvin heard her voice, and hope finally hit him. “Go! Move!”

Everyone released the barricade and ran. The desks and chairs they had held for so long collapsed instantly behind

them.

As they fell, they crushed a large group of zombies, buying everyone a few precious seconds.

But the real danger was the back door.

The zombie whose head was wedged inside kept pushing forward, its battered body forcing through the opening. More zombies noticed the gap and began grabbing at the door, shoving their hands inside.

“Raarh!”

“Raarh!”

Everyone ran faster.

Sydney reached the window first. By the time she got there, her strength was gone. She struggled to climb up until a hand grabbed her jacket and tossed her into the vehicle.

“Miss…”

“From now on, everyone I save owes me!”

Hayley shoved her inside, then climbed back into the classroom, grabbing the next two boys who arrived and throwing them out one after another.

“You’re working for me after this!”

Then Trina stumbled forward, crawling toward the window. “Pull me up, too!”

“I wouldn’t take you even for free labor. Go die somewhere else!” Hayley slapped her aside. 1

Trina hit the ground and looked up just in time to see Andrew, Ryker, and Marvin preparing to leave.

Panic exploded inside her.

They were really abandoning her.

How could they do this?

And Hayley, too! That monster!

Trina scrambled to her feet and lunged toward the sliding window. While no one was looking, she slammed it shut with all her strength.

Click.

The lock snapped into place.

She gripped the latch tightly.

“If I’m dying, then everyone dies with me!”

“Raarh!”

The zombies finally broke through the back door.

The defense was gone.
