Chapter 585

Hayley lifted her head and looked toward the classroom.

Right now, the room was in complete chaos.

The windows facing the hallway were mostly shattered. Desks and chairs that had blocked the zombies were overturned everywhere. Zombies crawled through the tangled gaps, dragging themselves forward.

But the worst part was the back door.

It hung halfway open, and a dense wave of zombies poured through freely, their twisted faces flooding into the

room.

The fastest one had already reached the middle of the classroom.

Its claws were lifted, ready to tear into Ryker and Trina as they rolled across the floor.

Bang!

The half-open back door slammed shut from the outside.

All the zombies trying to rush in were shoved back beyond it.

Click.

Hayley heard keys rattling.

She stared toward the back door in shock.

Someone was locking it from the outside.

“Mr. Daniels is here!” someone shouted, voice shaking with excitement.

Marvin looked at the locked door and the zombies frozen mid-motion across the classroom, then rushed toward Ryker and Trina.

“Move! Hurry! Mr. Daniels came to save us!”

He reached down to pull them up.

Ryker gave a faint, tired smile. “Mr. Ortega… I can’t go. I got scratched. Save yourselves!”

Only then did Marvin notice the deep claw marks across Ryker’s back. This time, there wasn’t enough clothing to protect him.

“Mr. Ortega, I’m fine! Take me with you!” Trina shouted desperately as Ryker held her in place.

Then it happened.

“Raarh!”

The zombie behind Ryker moved again.

Fresh prey was too close. Even the mental suppression from a high-level ability couldn’t hold forever.

The zombie lunged and bit straight into Ryker’s neck.

Warm blood sprayed across both Ryker and Trina’s faces.

Trina screamed louder, “Help me! Help me!”

“Mr. Ortega… Go,” Ryker said, gripping Trina tighter.

“Raarh!”

“Raarh!”

“Raarh!”

More zombies broke free from the mental restraint.

Ryker wrapped his arms around Trina, using his body to block the swarm rushing toward them.

Marvin’s eyes turned red. He tried to rush forward to save his student, but Andrew grabbed him and dragged him toward the window.

They reached Hayley.

Andrew shouted, “Miss, go! Mr. Daniels can’t hold them much longer!”

Mr. Daniels.

The name hit Hayley hard.

Andrew shoved the window open again, struggling to push his teacher outside.

Everyone was exhausted, barely able to move.

Seeing that, Hayley didn’t hesitate anymore. She grabbed one person in each hand and threw them out through the window.

Then, she vaulted out in a smooth motion.
