The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 607

Chapter 607

If this had happened before Nathaniel saw Hayley’s base with his own eyes, he might’ve agreed with them.

But now…

“Base K1 has real strength,” Nathaniel said calmly. “They absolutely qualify to attend this summit.”

“Tch.” Gerard scoffed. “If it weren’t for your recommendation, Base Ki would’ve been wiped out a long time ago.”

Nathaniel held his tongue, choosing not to respond.

While they talked, Hayley wandered nearby and noticed a familiar group approaching

“You’re with Base K1, right?” someone called out.

Ark Three had arrived.

Among the three Ark bases, Hayley’s relationship with Ark Three was slightly better. Not much, just a little. After all, she had helped them eliminate zombies and suppress the outbreak last time.

The newly appointed Ark Three director had even given her a communicator and treated her fairly well, though their real goal was obvious. They wanted to recruit her.

“Long time no see,” Hayley said.

“I’m so glad I finally caught you in person. I tried reaching out to you several times on the comms, but you never replied. We should talk properly later.”

“Sure,” Hayley said lazily.

Then, she noticed a familiar figure among their group. A short boy wearing a white mask. When their eyes met, excitement instantly lit up his clear gaze.

Hayley remembered him.

It was Max, the kid she had saved at Ark Three before. He was one of the contacts she had quietly developed.

She gave him a casual nod.

The moment Max realized she recognized him, his excitement nearly burst through the mask. It looked like he wanted to rip it off and run straight to her.

“Everyone, let’s begin,” Gerard announced behind them.

Seeing that all parties had arrived, Gerard led the group toward the opera house.

It was the same auction venue as before.

The blood from the previous zombie outbreak had long since been cleaned away Even the attendants had been replacest with a new batch of younger, prettier girls.

They moved with exaggerated humility, dropping to their knees the moment the guests approa hed, terbed of offending another powerful Gigure like last time

Watching the scene, Hayley fell the familiar wave of discomfort crawl over het skin

Some places just didn’t mix with her

No matter which Ark base she entered, she fell deeply uneasy

She had always thought her own rule was strict enough, but these bases had crossed into something worse

Here, people barely counted as human. The oppressioti felt heavier than surviving outside among zombie hordes.

Soon, Hayley followed the group into a newly prepared conference room.

Four bases sat facing one another in neat rows.

The meeting began.

Gerard announced, “Welcome to the annual summit among our three. Well, formerly three bases, now four. We have a new friend joining us this year.”

He gestured toward Hayley.

“Base Ki has joined us. Why don’t our new guest say a few words?”

Every gaze in the room turned toward her.

Hayley swept her eyes across the crowd.

“I don’t have much to say,” she said evenly. “Let’s all make money together.”
