Chapter 608
Hayley looked at the idiot across the table, waved casually to Liam, then stood up and left.
This time, she had brought plenty of people with her.
Liam could deal with these fools.
She trusted him completely, anyway. When Liam spoke, it was basically the same as her speaking.
And frankly, these people respected Liam more. Even those who looked down on Base K1 showed at least a little more respec toward a man.
“I’m heading out. You handle it,” Hayley said.
She couldn’t be bothered to waste another word. She turned and walked away.
Griffin, Leonard, and Thomas immediately followed behind her.
Liam watched them leave, a faint crease forming beneath his mask before his expression smoothed out again.
“The young lady from your base has quite a temper,” Gerard said mockingly. “You should really discipline her.”
“You don’t need to worry about her,” Liam replied calmly. “Her temperament is widely acknowledged as excellent. She treat: others exactly the way she’s treated. If someone thinks she has a bad attitude, perhaps they should start by examining their o behavior.”
Gerard had no reply.
Around the table, people watched the exchange like spectators at a show.
Nathaniel stepped in smoothly. “Let’s begin the meeting.”
Hayley left the reception hall and walked along the opera house corridor again.
As she rounded a corner, a line of young attendants appeared ahead, heads lowered. The moment they saw masked guests approaching, they dropped to their knees one after another like falling dominoes.
Even those farther inside, who didn’t know what was happening, hurriedly kneeled as well.
At the very end of the line, one girl hesitated when she saw everyone kneeling.\
A junior manager behind her immediately kicked the back of her knee.
“Get down already!”
A strike like that would normally force anyone to collapse instantly.
However, Leena trained constantly. Her body was stronger than most. The kick only made her stumble. She caught herself against the wall and steadied her balance.
She turned to look at the man behind her.
“What are you staring at? Kneel! If you offend a guest, you’re dead!” the manager snarled.
Leena blinked slowly, and her fists lightened. Under his glare, she lowered herself bit by bit.
Thud!
She placed both hands on the floor, back straight, and lowered herself without letting her knees touch the ground.

she was protecting the last fragment of dignity she still owned.
“That’s kneeling?” the manager sneered, irritation flashing across his face. “Doit properly!”
His heavy boot slammed onto her back. Like crushing an insect, he increased the pressure little by little, pushing her down.
Yet to his surprise, the girl held on. She refused to yield that final inch, refusing to let her knees touch the floor.
What a stubborn little brat!
But stubborn people still had to bend.
The strength-enhanced manager pressed harder.
Pain exploded through Leena’s spine.
Her back felt like it might snap under the weight. Her chest compressed until breathing became difficult. Her fingers trembled against the ground, knuckles whitening as her entire body shook.
It hurt.
