The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 622

Chapter 622

Liam watched from the stands as the crowd down in the arena surrounded Hayley, lifting her up and tossing her into the air in celebration.

The smile on his lips slowly grew wider, his eyes shining brighter with every second.

Hayley had always been dazzling, and she always surprised people.

But the thing that made him happiest was that Hayley was one of theirs. Having someone like her on their side was an honor for all of them.

To outsiders, she was a terrifying force.

But to them, she was their sun. A blazing sun that brought hope and strength.

In the end, Hayley walked away with a total of 10.02 million tons of grain..

Half of that had been her own wager.

Ark Two hadn’t just lost; they had been crushed. They lost the bet. They lost their fighters. They lost everything.

Gerard clearly wanted to refuse payment.

But Ark One and Ark Three were both present. As the so-called righteous allied bases, both immediately sided with Hayley.

And of course they did.

First, Hayley had won the match fair and square. The wager had been clear from the start.

Second, Ark Two’s massive loss meant the other two bases indirectly benefited.

Especially Ark Three. They had previously been tricked into spending 2.5 million pounds of grain on evolution serum and had never recovered the loss.

Now, Hayley had dragged that grain back out of Ark Two with interest.

At that moment, Ark Three backed her like family.

They were determined to make Ark Two pay every pound they owed.

Nathaniel from Ark One didn’t even hesitate. He stood firmly behind Hayley as well, insisting Ark Two honor the wager.

If they didn’t pay, nobody would leave.

Gerard looked as if he wanted to kill someone. But after weighing the strength of the three bases and Hayley herself, he had no choice.

And so, he paid.

There was also the matter of the 100 civilians.

According to the original wager, those people had been part of the prize. Whoever killed them earned points. Anyone left alive would belong to the winner.

Hayley took them all.

When everything was over, Ark Two had lost five million tons of grain, 10 of their strongest fighters, and 100 laborers.

Originally, among the three bases, Ark One had been hit the hardest early on. Then, Ark Three got tricked out of nearly halt of their resources.

Ark Two had been the wealthiest.

Now, the balance had flipped

Ark One had roughly four million tons of grain left. Ark Three had a little over two million. Ark Two was down to barely a million.

All three bases had taken heavy losses.

But energy never disappeared. It simply changed hands.

If someone became poor, someone else became rich.

And the rich one this time was Hayley.

Very, very quietly, she had just become incredibly wealthy.

Helicopters flew back and forth for three straight days and nights. Every inventory-variant Gifted from Hayley’s base showed up to help transport the grain, including Hayley herself.

Only after three days did they finally move all five million pounds of grain.

From that moment on, Ark Two and Hayley became sworn enemies.

To be fair, Ark Two still had over a million tons of grain left. Their base only had around 20 thousand residents. Technically, that amount of food could feed them for generations. So the loss wasn’t enough to destroy the base.
