Chapter 623
“Yes, it’s bad there,” Hayley said seriously. “It’s awful. We deal with zombie sieges almost every day.”
She spoke with complete sincerity
“You know how many major cities there are in the Eastern region. We’ve got three cities with populations over a million within range of us. The zombie evolution process is basically complete now. Our base gets surrounded by tens of thousands of evolved zombies almost every day. A lot of smaller bases have already been wiped out.”
She looked at him earnestly.
“If you really want to help us, send more supplies or trade with us more often. But don’t come to our base. It’s way too dangerous.”
Her tone was so genuine that Donald’s expression slowly turned serious.
The situation outside sounded even worse than he had imagined.
He already knew the zombies were evolving, but hearing that the full evolution phase had progressed this far was unsettling.
It seemed the Ark bases would have to keep lying low and preserving humanity’s last spark until the zombie threat eventually
burned itself out.
Beside them, Nathaniel stood there, completely speechless.
He stared at Hayley, who looked as if she would swear on her whole family’s grave that she was telling the truth.
If he hadn’t personally gone out there and seen things with his own eyes, he might have believed every word she just said.
Soon after, Hayley sent a team to Ark Three to collect the supplies they owed.
Once everything was settled, her group prepared to leave.
“Since you’d rather people not visit your base,” Nathaniel said suddenly, “why don’t you take the ten thousand pounds of supplies from our base with you as well?”
“Sure,” Hayley replied. “I’ll send someone to pick them up.”
“Why send someone else?” Nathaniel smiled at her. “You can come with me and take them yourself.”
Hayley studied him carefully. No matter how she looked at him, it felt like he was up to something.
Nathaniel’s smile only widened.
“Our two bases signed a cooperation agreement, didn’t we? Don’t tell me you don’t trust me. If I had other intentions, I would’ve told them about your base already.”
Hayley raised an eyebrow.
“Fine,” she said. “I’ll go with you.”
Then she turned to Liam. “Come pick me up tonight.”
“Alright,” Liam said with a nod.
The message wasn’t really for the others. It was for Nathaniel.
She would stay at Ark One for a few hours at most. If Nathaniel tried to keep her there longer than that, Liam would step in.
The relationship between their two bases was complicated.

On paper, they had an agreement. In reality, neither side truly trusted the other. Hayley was cautious around Nathaniel, who was just as cautious around them.
In a world like this, keeping your distance was often the politest thing you could do.
Still, Hayley was almost certain Nathaniel had something planned.
She boarded the helicopter with her usual trio.
Strangely, once they were in the air, Nathaniel didn’t say much at all. Even after they landed at Ark One, he kept the same calm, distant gentlemanly attitude.
“I had food prepared,” he said. “Would you like to eat first?”
“Food can wait,” Hayley replied. “Let’s get the grain first.”
“Of course.”
Nathaniel pressed the elevator button and rode down with them to the lowest level.
Just like last time, he led Hayley into a luxurious reception room.
Nathaniel clapped his hands, and moments later, workers began carrying sacks of grain inside.
Ten thousand pounds in total.
Hayley checked everything on the spot.
Once she confirmed the amount was correct, she called Griffin over, grabbed his wrist, and had him store the grain inside her
