on after collecting the supplies, Hayley headed up to Level Four.

The sealed research wing she had seen last time had been reopened.

The damaged sections had been repaired. The lights were bright again, and every lab on both sides had thick curtains drawn across the windows.

It looked like research had resumed.

Although strangely, she didn’t see anyone moving around inside.

Hayley followed Nathaniel down the hallway. Just as they were about to reach Constant’s office, a sudden image flashed through

her mind.

Three seconds in the future, a researcher would stagger out of the room covered in blood.

Her entire body was soaked red, her stomach torn open. Half her blonde hair was ripped away, exposing a bloody scalp where

chunks of flesh had been bitten off.

She would collapse to the floor, legs kicking wildly. Then her neck would snap upward, and she would turn into a zombie.

It would crawl toward them like a mad animal, and Nathaniel would rush forward to block it.

Hayley stopped walking.

Nathaniel just stood there, stunned.

Of course, he knew there was a zombie.

But she didn’t even give him a chance to play the hero.

He had planned the perfect dramatic rescue. But now, Hayley had already run off. How was he supposed to continue the scene?

Nathaniel glanced at the zombie struggling to stand up. Then, he turned and ran toward Hayley.

“Holly! Don’t be scared! I’m here!”

“What good are you?” Hayley shot back while running. “Why does your garbage base keep producing zombies? Can’t you manage your place properly?”

They were almost out of the corridor when suddenly, the lights above them flickered.

Then everything went dark.

A second later, the glass security doors slammed shut with a heavy bang.

“Raarh!”

Behind them, the doors of the research labs burst open, one after another. Zombies flooded out like animals released from

cages.
