The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 674

Chapter 674

Hayley didn’t have a blade in hand. As the zombies rushed her, she was just about to use her gifts when a clear shout rang out from one corner of the estate

“Boss!”

The moment the voice echoed, the swarm charging at Hayley suddenly shifted, all of them tuming toward that side of the building.

Hayley looked up and immediately spotted Derek at a third-floor window.

“Derek!”

Derek pointed off to the right.

Hayley turned and saw a long strip of white fabric hanging down from the far western side of the estate

Ethan’s head popped out from above. He didn’t say a word, just waved urgently, signaling for them to run his way.

Hayley didn’t hesitate. Ignoring the zombies closing in, she led her people straight toward the west side. In less than half a minute, they reached it.

The fabric hung down from above. Hayley lifted Winona first.

“Can you climb?”

“I can!”

Winona grabbed hold. She was small and light, and with her feet braced against the wall, she scrambled up in no time.

Leonard and Thomas stayed below, holding the line and cutting down zombies.

Scott and his tagalong, Sawyer, didn’t lift a finger this time.

“We’ll head up first,” Scott said.

Hayley shot him a look. “Go.”

Part of her wanted to leave him down here.

As she spoke, a knife appeared in front of her.

“Yours broken, right?” Scott asked.

Before she could answer, he pressed it into her hand. “Use this.”

Then, he grabbed the makeshift rope and climbed up

With a blade back in her grip, Hayley moved smoothly again, cutting through zombies with ease

Once Scott and Sawyer were up, Hayley had Thomas and Leonard climb next while she stayed behind to cover them

One by one, they made it up.

More and more people gathered at the window above.

Hayley was the last

She sheathed the knife, threw up an air barrier, then grabbed the fabric and started climbing. As she neared the top, she caught sight of a strange woman among the group at the window.

Now that she was the only one left below, the people above pulled together, hauling her up like a tug of war team. She barely had to use any strength.

As the fabric was being pulled in bit by bit, that unfamiliar woman stepped forward and joined in.

“No need. Back off,” Thomas snapped.

“I’m just helping. Many hands make light work,” the woman said sweetly, her tone bright and eager.

She reached out, her long nails catching the fabric. The moment her nails hooked into it, there was a

sharp rip. The cloth tore wide open.

Below, the force pulling Hayley upward suddenly gave way. The strip in her hands split down the middle

In that instant, multiple hands shot out from the window. Scott leaned halfway out, grabbing Hayley’s right wrist. Griffin lunged right after him, locking onto her arm.
