Chapter 714
After the apocalypse began, Eric and Jocelyn lost their parents. It was just the two of them left Things had eased a little between them, but not by much. Jocelyn had never been close to him.
But now, seeing him die right in front of her…
Jocelyn’s mind blanked for a second. Then she turned on Hayley, her voice breaking into a scream.
“You killed my brother!”
The others had already noticed something was wrong. They looked over, frowning.
Barnaby and Garrick instinctively touched their own faces where they had been hit the day before.
No way.
They got hit, too. It didn’t kill them.
“Let me see,” Barnaby said, getting up and heading over.
“No one else touches him!” Jocelyn shouted. “You! Go check on Eric. You owe me an explanation!”
Right then, someone pointed behind her. “Jocelyn… L-Look!”
Eric, who had been lying there motionless, suddenly sat up. His body moved stiffly. All the color had drained from his face. His head tilted at an unnatural angle as he sat with his back to them.
Then, he turned.
His eyes were gray and empty. He had turned into a zombie.
“Raarh!”
Eric lunged straight at Jocelyn.
Barnaby reacted first, yanking her down just in time.
Eric dropped from the bed, crawling fast, his limbs jerking like a spider as he came after them.
Jocelyn and Barnaby scrambled backward across the floor.
Everyone else on the lower bunks bolted, climbing up or retreating deeper into the room, shouting as they moved.
Just as Eric was about to reach them, the door burst open.
The people in white rushed in.
A large net dropped cleanly over Eric, cinching tight as it caught him. The people handling it moved with practiced ease, as if they had done this countless times, quickly hauling the zombified Eric away.

Once he was out, one of them pulled out a syringe and jammed it into his body. Eric, still snarling and thrashing, went limp almost instantly and passed out.
From the top bunk, Hayley’s eyes sharpened.
What was that? It could actually knock a zombie out.
If they had that outside, everything would change.
Before she could think further, the group in white moved through the room again, checking everyone who might’ve been attacked. They made sure no one had been scratched or bitten before leaving.
After the group left, everyone in the room felt as if they had just escaped death, fear crashing over them
in waves.
Some people even scrambled to move their things up to the empty top bunks.
