As soon as the announcement ended, the locked door clicked and opened on its own.

Hayley jumped down from the top bunk. She was the first one out.

The hallway outside was already filling up. People from the first four rooms were coming out, one after another.

Standing by the doorway, Hayley quickly noticed something: almost every room was missing one or two people.

A man in a white coat stepped forward, counted heads, then motioned for everyone to move.

No one spoke.

The entire group stayed quiet and tense. Hayley moved with them, eyes scanning everything around her.

There were doors everywhere. Doors lined both sides of the long corridor, and even at the very end, there was another one that was bigger than the rest.

Beep!

The leader swiped a card. The door ahead slid open. A rush of cold air spilled out.

“Wait by your number. You’ll be called in,” he said flatly.

“Number 7871. Go.”

A man raised his hand and stepped inside.

As Hayley took in the scene, something clicked in her mind

She raised her hand. “Sir, my stomach hurts.”

The man frowned at her.

“It’s bad. I can’t hold it. If I don’t go now, I’m doing it right here. Just turn around and hold your breath. I

promise I’ll be quick!”

His expression darkened immediately.

“Take her. Now.”

Beep!

He opened another door. A lower-ranking staff member stepped forward and gestured for her to follow.

Hayley turned briefly to Winona, giving her a quick look, then hurried after him.

Inside, there was a small restroom area. It had a single stall, a sink outside, and another door that led somewhere else.

Hayley took it all in at a glance. Was this whole place just a network of connected rooms and corridors?

“Hurry up,” the man behind her said.

Hayley turned back. “Sir, I’m on my period. You got any tampons?”

His covered face didn’t change. “No. Be quick.”

Hayley figured there was no point pushing further. She stepped into the stall.

It was the only place without cameras, but the ceiling was sealed tight. There was no way out from above.

She looked at the toilet, then at the outlet nearby. An idea formed instantly.

“Oh, no!”

The man rushed forward the second he heard her.

As he stepped in, his foot hit the water pooling on the floor. A current surged through the pool of water, and he dropped instantly.

Hayley watched him fall. With a slight shift of her hand, the stream of water she had been directing toward the outlet cut off, and the water that had just covered his ankles quickly drained away.

She slid down from the toilet, stepped onto the now harmless wet floor, and bent to pick up the man’s ID badge.
